Cheers to 2013!

Twenty-twelve was a pretty awful year for me. There were a lot of streeeesssffffuuuuuuullll stuff which started around January and didn't pick up until near August.

As such, I'm kind of happy to see it go.

I'm kind of afraid of 2013.... (not that I'm suspicious or anything, but turning 18 in the year 2013, bodes rather.... ill?) I'm not a very brave person and becoming a legal adult and having to get a job, and go into the world--interacting with people-- scares the heck of me. But hey ho! I shall deal with that when it comes up and I'm not going to freak out before hand!! *cough*

Anyway, I saw this tag on Alexandra's blog, and thought, why not?

It's kind of long....

What did you do in 2012 that you’d never done before?
Oh, this and that. I started a blog, flew to Kansas (we usually drive), I lobbed off about six inches of my hair. It used to be down to my hips and now it's mid-back. It's growing out again.

Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make one this year?
Giggle. Never really did New Years' Resolutions. No, not making one this year. Too lazy. :)

Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! Two of my sisters did! And now I have two more nieces, Cecilia and Serena.

Did anyone close to you die?
No. There were a couple close calls but no.

What countries/states did you visit?
Kansas..... I live in California.... but we're near the border of Nevada, so I guess you guess we can say that I visit there a lot.

What would you like to have in 2013 that you lacked in 2012?
A job. And courage. LOTS more courage. *smirk*

What date from 2012 will remain etched upon your memory?
Nothing so epic happened that it earned an etch in my memory. Snicker.

Did you move anywhere?

Ha! No!

What was the best month?
Um.... Prolly July. Some cousins came out! And December. For obvious reasons.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
D'uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhh...... I have no idea. Eeeeek! Must do more awesomeness this year!

What was your biggest failure?
Not managing to finish school until late July. *Hides face in shame*

Did you suffer illness or injury?I may have broken my front tooth in half..... There was a punching bag involved.... also a metal pole. Don't ask

What was the best thing you bought?
A very cool movie, and a few cute tops.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
Eh. How do you mean? I'm going to go with my friend getting her license.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
A few people did a few things which sort of lowered opinion of them. It was a big fat jolt of reality.

Where did most of your money go?
PRESSIEEES!!!!!

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
The Hobbit and other things which I can't rememeber right now. :)

What was the best concert you’ve been to this year?
Um.... The Phantom of the Opera. My voice teacher was the Phantom. He's really quite a brilliant stage actor. I have his autograph. I'm really weird. :)

What song/album will always remind you of 2012?
Oh several.

you do need to be careful with Take That. They can
sing some pretty awful stuff.

CORNY music video, but I quite enjoy it.

Compared to this time last year, are you:
1. happier or sadder?
MUCH happier
2. thinner or fatter? About the same.
3. richer or poorer? Well let's just say I had more to spend last year. *winky*

What do you wish you’d done more of?
More un-uninhibited things. I think I'd have a lot more fun if I could just relax and not care so much about what people think! I'm too shy to do things like..... frolic by the lake with friends. (They frolicked. I pretended I wasn't with them.)

What do you wish you’d done less of?
Stressing out. Something about my family leans towards stressing over silly things, and it drains me. Hehehe.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
the Tale of Two Cities musical and Mario Frangoulis. He has such an extremely nice voice.

How did you spend Christmas?
See the last post.......

How are you spending New Year’s?
MUCH FUNSSSSS!!!!

Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
My cousin and my sister Gina. (Yes, it's true!!!)

What was the best book you read?
The Sherwood Ring, and Moonless Night by Jimmy James. Also, Seraphina, Pistols and Petagogs, and Airman by Eoin Colfer.

Did you fall in love in 2012?
Nope. It's a long standing joke with our family, our town is so small there are no guys that any of us our interested in. Tourist town with lots of ski bums and surfer guys but no eligible Catholic fellows. *sniffle* Being part of a mission parish can be hard sometimes.

What was your favorite TV show?
Well I kind of go in spurts. Sherlock, Psych, Leverage, and recently, DOCTOR WHOOOOOOO. I am a TOTAL Whovian.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't tend to hate people. *hate is a strong word*... I can dislike people a lot, but the only person I ever came close to hating was a nasty man when I was thirteen. *grin* I'm over it now.

What did you want and get?
Sonic screwdriver!! TARDIS!! Psych, season 5.

What did you want and not get?
I'm actually pretty content at the moment.

What were your favourite films of this year?
So. Many. To. List. Okay. In no particular order....
The Avengers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (And all the other movies connected to it Captain America, Ironman, Thor, etc....)
Bourne Legacy
The Hobbit
Return to Me
Cinderella Man
Real Steel
North and South
Rise of the Guardians
Toy Soldiers (minus a couple unnecessary dialogues)
Second-hand lions
Brave
Vivacious Lady
Bachelor Mother
It's a Wonderful Life
The Voice of the Turtle
The Bourne Trilogy
For Greater Glory
and others I have yet to remember. :)

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned seventeen on July 2nd.... celebrated by doing school. Ha! It was actually a good birthday despite the schoolishness. *snort*

How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2012?
Um. I'm not sure how to describe my style. What would you lovely people call it?

What kept you sane?
God. Blogging. Reading. Writing. Pinterest. Drawing. My family. :)

Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
Gigglegigglegigglegigglegigglegiggle

most of the guys in this movie......

I love him with so much love. :)

What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A visit from a friend.....

What political issue stirred you the most?
So much stuffs. I hate politics.

Who did you miss?
My sisters and friends. I got a bit lonely for a while. :)

Who was the best new person you met?
*cough* I don't get out much.

Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2012.
Trusting people is hard. But when you do they can make things a bit easier on the whole.

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
Rodney Atkins

If You're Going Through Hell

If you're goin' through hell keep on going
Don't slow down if you're scared don't show it
You might get out before the devil even knows you're there

and then Josh Groban's awesome:

Five personally significant events of 2012:
1.) turned seventeen
2.) got to know a few of my cousins better
3.) learned a lot of new songs
4.) Got introduced to Doctor Who
5.) Figured out how to draw hair realistically.

Five things I want to do in 2013:
1.) Learn to drive and get my licence.
2.) Get a job
3.) Graduate from highschool
4.) Get better at drawing landscapes and still life
5.) Start saving for a Range Rover or Land Rover :)

Five people I’d like to know better in 2013:
I hate meeting people. It's hard getting to know people. It takes ages for me to 'come out of my shell'. So I don't know how to answer that question. :)

So there you have it! I basically summed up my entire year in this post. So yeah, I'm happy to see 2012 go. It was probably one of the most trying years I've ever been through. There was a lot of drama the first  half, and... let's just say, my sisters and I stayed up until midnight yesterday to make sure 2012 left and 2013 made it in.

Here's to the New Year!! *raises imaginary glass aloft*

Cheers

  1. Such a cute post! I agree with you on a lot of things, such as not having new years resolutions, being single all year, and wishing for more courage and being slightly afraid of the new year. But hey, we got to deal with the cards given to us right!? We'll make it out alive no matter what comes our way. Also, for films, I'd add on les Miserables....its AMAZING.

(On a sidenote, but old blog url somehow got deleted a long with all my old posts unfortunately. However, I set up a new one and i hope if its not too much to ask that you will follow it. Sorry for the inconvience... the url is: http://theheartbeatofaclock.blogspot.com/ )

    1. Thank you so much, Soph!! Yes, I know we have to deal the cards God deals us... but sometimes the hand is pretty awful. :)

I was going to do Les Mis, but I haven't seen it yet, I'm waiting to go with my brother and sister.

Oh, I am SO sorry about your URL! That must be so depressing. *goes to follow.*

  2. oh!! I loooove this post! xD <3 I didn't know you were introduced to DW just this year! That's crazy! <3 It's so goooood.
Jeremy!! Absolutely. <3 Such an epic actor.
I hope this year is absolutely stellar for you, Treskie! <3 <3 <3

    1. Oh yes, we're very new Whovians. lol... Didn't actually start watching DW until August. :D And we're almost done with ALL the seasons now. We watch a lot. I'd HEARD about it before that, but they're kind of hard to get a hold of here. We don't actually have netflix and our library/video rentals don't carry them... they're really expensive too. We were lucky enough to have friends loan us a season every couple of weeks. :D

      JEREMY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Exactly.

I hope so too! I have high hopes. :)

  3. Turning eighteen can be scary, but not as bad as the world makes it out to be. Getting a job is the shoddy bit, but even those can be fun if you don't dread them. I bet you will do well!!

Aw, I didn't get a chance to see the Bourne Legacy this year. Not even my brothers wanted to see it! (My only reason for wishing to do so was because it had a certain actor in it...)

AGREED! Howl needs his own book!! I don't wish to read the other books...I should...but he's not really in them 8-( Which is tragic.

Dick Van Dyke was the main...government leader dude in The Avengers. He talked to Fury the most on the computer and kept his face hidden in the dark. (My brothers and I heard his voice and almost cheered. We like him *Grin*)

YOU'VE BEEN TO SCOTLAND?! Now I'm envious of you. What did you do there? Did you go to Edinburgh by any chance? See Wallace's sword? Someday, I plan to go there, and see all the places where he fought.

I hope this New Year is a nice one for you, and that getting a job turns out to be fun.

    Allons-y!

    1. Oh you really ought to watch Bourne Legacy. It's really good and actiony. :)

Howl is probably one of my favorite books characters. :D He is just brilliant. And I'm so sad he never got an EPIC of his own.

I know that turning eighteen isn't THAT big of a deal... I just tend to blow things out of proportion and I stress easily. :) I'm just going to leave it in God's hands and try not to freak out too much. :)

Oh... yeah. I've been to Scotland. (Awesome older sister) We went EVERYWHERE!!! Yes- Edinburgh... the flat we stayed in was really centrally located and we could walk to Edinburgh Castle. (We also have a friend there who drove us all over the place.) And Wallace's sword... YEP! It's as tall as I am. The Wallace Monument is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And when you go, you really must go to Stirling Castle.... also Inchcolm Island... And Culloden... oh gosh, just go everywhere. :)

Thanks for the encouragement, Jack. You're awesome. :)

  4. Well. I do believe I'm the first person to read that post through and comment! How cool. (:

I read your first sentence and I just wanted to give you a hug. Stressful times are tough. ): But chin up, 2013 is here and there's a whole 365 days of opportunities! :D

Ah, The Hobbit. This year was the first that I read that book, and fell in love with it. And now I am reading the first LotR book, and loving it too. I shall have to see the movies sometime.

I just realized that it would be so cool to have a Hobbit-style door on my future house. (:

    Happy New Year, Treskie!

    4. Yes we would! (: Although, you'd probably start going all Whovian on me, and I would sit there going, "What?" Heehee.

    5. Ummmmm..... I try not to mix my fandoms too much. :)

The Lord of the Rings... is almost a sacred thing. Okay, not sacred but we take it seriously when we watch it. And I would not sit there going, "YOU DIDN'T DIE, ARAGORN, BECAUSE THE DOCTOR SAAAAVED YOU!!!" :D

    6. ...ARAGORN DIES?! I didn't know this! *sobs* I haven't read all the books! D:

  5. Jared is a great character, out of the three he was my favourite as well. And unlike most books written for that age group, he was one I could feel sympathy for, especially in the second to last book when he heard his mum talking to his dad about needing to leave. Poor fellow!

  6. "If you are going through Hell" is very applicable for our year :) MARK WILLIAMS WAS BRILLIANT!!!!

Oh yes. Watch ALL the Movies!

    God Bless

  7. Hey! Happy New Year!
This was a fun post. What would I call your fashion? Um...sassy-classy. Hehe. Just kidding. You're not really sassy at all. It just sounds cool. Sassy-classy. *Smirk* I think your style is sort of elegant, in a nice, timeless sort of way. (And I just know you're going to remind me I said this at some point.:)

    Cheers!
