Picture Saturday-- Doodles and sketches and stuff

It's been a long time since a Picture Saturday has made an appearance, hasn't it? Oh well. I got busy. *grin*

I know that I have been terrible about commenting and blogging.... and I apologize. (If you missed my blog that is, if you don't care one way or another, I retract my apology.)

I do have reasons for the being so lax, and mostly it's just that the weather finally, FINALLY warmed up and it's actually starting to feel like summer around here. (The last couple of weeks have been ridiculously cold... like getting down to the 30s at night. Which is cold in June.) So now that it's decided to bring on some "almost July" weather, I've been spending as much time as possible outside and ignoring my computer in the meantime.

I'm so glad it's summer, you guys. I love being warm.

Anyhow, I've been sketching and drawing a lot lately, and I've decided to share a few. I just noticed that the pictures all have the date on them. GRRRRRRRRRRRR. (yes, I use a camera and not a scanner. Our scanner tends to really wash out my drawings.) But I'm too lazy too redo so you'll just have to ignore that.

1.) The Dragon Slippers picture I'm working on right now. I'm wanting to color it in soon, so it's not done, but I rather fancy it. (If you haven't read that book, you really should. It's quite nice. The author does a cool twist on dragons' hoards. )

2.) The random-Scottish-girl-standing-on-a-cliff sketch I did a few days ago.

3.) The Rapunzel sketch I drew a few days before the random-girl-on-cliff one.

4.) The one I don't really care for.... That girl's head is so bulbous and huge compared to her body.

5.) The one I'm absurdly fond of that I mostly did last night and finished today:

Call me weird, but I really want the outfit she's wearing. And I quite like her hair.

6.) The BASEBALL PLAYER!!!! Kay, I love baseball. And so I drew a batter. And he looks off-balance in this picture, but in real life he looks way better, I swear.

8.) The St. Teresa  of Avila quote that I love. (I already did it once before, but I love it so much, it had to be redone.)

And that's that. Sorry I'm not as peppy as I usually am, but I'm not really in the mood for peppy right now.

Anyway, what do you think? Which one's your favorite?

                               God bless, guys.

Guess What!!

I freaking graduated!!!

So, I know I'm a bit late.... (I may have fallen behind the teensiest little bit.) But I did it, I completed high school before the official start of summer, so BOOYA! Done. Forever. Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalalala.

A little over-dramatic? Nah, I don't care. I'm hyped. lol.

I'm also a little terrified. I mean, sure, graduating is that thing you dream of since kindergarten.... but what you don't realize in kindergarten is that graduation also means real life starts. Jobs and responsibilities and all that stupid stuff....

So instead of just having that jubilant joy that I was all ready for, I have a bit of nervousness mixed in.

You know that part in Tangled where Rapunzel keeps going back and forth, not sure how she feels about leaving the tower? That, my friends, is me. That is me exactly. Everyone I know agrees with that.

I'm like, "YES! GRADUATION! WOOOOOT!!

And then I go, "Oh my gosh. What do I do with my life?

Never mind, who cares? Life is good! I shall go play in the forest.

Uuugghhhh.. Growing up stinks.

Freeeeeeedoooooooooooooom!

I should really start looking for a job.

NO! I am never growing up!

I have to grow up.

MY LIFE IS AWESOME!!!!!!!

Oh yeah. Life.

Hehe. So yeah. I'm stoked and excited about finishing high school, but I'm really apprehensive. I'm not good with the general public and the idea of going out into the world and getting a job and... you know... having a life... that's a really terrifying idea for me. But it comes in waves. During the day, I'm all:

and then evening rolls around and I'm just:

BUT MOSTLY I'M:

Now's when my life begins!!!!

And now I will leave you with these two clips.

Cheers, y'all!

Take a little walk in the country with me.....

So, Kat, Amy, and I went on a hike today, and it was funz!!! It wasn't really up in the mountains, it was nearer the lake with lots of granite boulders to clamber upon willy nilly. (Though, truth be told, I didn't clamber much. I'm a bit of a chicken when it comes to heights and bouldering. I'm like, "It's four feet off the ground! I'm going to fall! I'm going to die!" Drastic, I know, but I can't help it. So I tend to stay firmly planted on un-life threatening soil, clicking embarrassing pictures. MWAAHAHAHAA!)

Because both Amy, and Kat are also doing a post on this, I shall not be putting up loads of pictures.... (if you want to see more of my face look at theirs. *smirk*)

And just to finish off the pictures.... Amy made this for me. I love it! It's so funny and pretty to look at.

So now I shall leave you with this song. It's basically how I felt today.

Cheers and God bless!

They really should have let Khan sleep.

So. I've tried several times to start this post without using the word 'so.'

As you can see, the attempt failed. But I be not bovvered! I got tired of backspacing.

Anyway.

My dad, my brother, and I went and watched Star Trek: Into Darkness yesterday, and I was actually surprised at how much I liked it.

It was an epic movie! It had good dialogue and the most awesome villain aside from Loki. (OH! That reminds me. Have you noticed that all the BBC actors are all making movies where they're the bad guys? Hiddles, Cumberbatch, Christopher Eccleston, Karen Gillan... What's the deal?!) It had great special effects and the story itself was pretty good too. It left me with a bit of that happy skittles feeling I mentioned when I talked about The Eagle. In fact, I'll probably end up owning at some point in my existence.

But um.... here's the thing. After watching it, I came to the conclusion that I am an Original Series Trekkie..... and I'm a bit of a Star Trek purist. So maybe it's just me, since everyone else seems to have liked it just fine. (My dad and brother both love the Original Series and they both love the movie too.) But I had a hard time with a couple of things.

Now, remember that I said that I did love this movie! (Yes, that had to be underlined, italicized, and bolded! Bolded? In bold? Whatever. You know what I mean.) I don't want you guys to think I didn't like it, 'cause I did. I'm just super persnickety.

1.) Chris Pine is not, and never will be Kirk.

He's a good actor and everything, (he was great in Unstoppable.) but he's not William Shatner's James. T. Kirk. (kudos if you know what T stands for.) But in fairness, I will say that it would be nearly impossible achieve that level of awesomeness.

And Chris Pine was awesome! But he's just not that awesome.

He does have some seriously beautiful eyes though.

2.) The ship didn't look right. I know. I know they updated it to make it more realistically futuristic. But let's be honest.

This:

Doesn't look anything like this:

and this:

really doesn't look like this:

I completely get that they updated it to make it look less sixties and more 2259. But couldn't they have sleeked it out and still have it look like the U.S.S. Enterprise that we all remember? It was too white and curved, in my opinion.

3.) The Spock/Uhura relationship. No.

4.) The costumes. (really persnickety here.) Hehehehe. I know short pants are out. But come on... they're iconic. And... the slick tight space suits were a bit weird. lol.

5.) The way they hold their phasers and the way they transport.

I know it's more realistic to hold a phaser like a Glock. But you just don't, kay?

this

not this:

and this:

not this

6.) The totally unnecessary bad scenes. They were short. They weren't needed. They were only there to draw in the perverts.

NOW! The stuff I DID like.

1.) Duh.

This scene. SO RELATABLE!

2.) Bones. He was probably the best cast.

3.) Scotty. Loved Scotty. *heart*

4.) All the references to the Original Series. There were quite a few parts where I was like, "I see what you did there!!"
Like the, "Darn it, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a torpedo technician!"

And the seventy-two "photon torpedoes". Which is only relevant if you have just watched the episode with Khan.

And the scene in the radiation room....

And the Tribble!!! Which I couldn't find a picture of so I'll just use the old ones.

5.) The fights were really good.

Right, so overall, yes, I really, really did like this movie. It was fast paced, it was fun. But it's not Star Trek for me. It felt more like a really good science fiction story than something that would happen on the USS Enterprise that I know and love. And it could just be that I have a hard time when the movie changes the show, and I could just be getting caught up on the details. I think I would have adored it if it hadn't been Kirk's crew.

As it is, if you're not a fan of the TV show, you will love it. It's awesome. It's worth it. However, if you're the kind of fan I am, I'd advise going to it for Benedict Cumberbatch, because he's a scene stealer and he owns!

And now I will tell you to live long and prosper. But darn it, guys, I'm a human, not a vulcan! (that was lame, wasn't it......)
