Random thoughts

The Sierras have numerous lakes speckling the mountain sides.

Yesterday we went on a hike.

There was one heck of a view.

My mood at this time: Sort of.... melancholy. Like...... I think I might need to go use that punching bag which is currently standing in the closet of my bedroom.

Currently loving: Allied P.O.W.s during WWII. I think I will end up doing a post on them sometime in the near-ish future. They are awesome.

Currently reading: Just finished Howl's Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones. She was a brilliant author and I love her books. The Colditz Story by P. R. Reid, and Moonless Night by Jimmy James. They are incredible books which will be included in my P.O.W post. :)

Currently watching: Doctor Who, Remington Steele (only the clean ones, the later seasons can get a little.... not clean.) Hogan's Heroes, Tintin, and the Avengers. We watch a lot of movies/TV shows.

Currently listening to: Les Miserables musical, the Clancy Brothers, the Script's Hall of Fame, and Awake by Josh Groban.

Currently planning: To go and take pictures of leaf trees. Lots of pictures. Maybe have a photo-shoot.
I also really want to find more time to draw, I've been super busy.
I want to watch The Great Escape again.
I want to write some more in my W.I.P.
I must find a way to make my school research paper as epic as I want it to be.
I should wash our doggeh, Sam.

That's all for today peoples! :)

God bless,

{Belated} Craftiness

Treskie takes a moment to make herself a nice pot of tea, grab the Snickers bar that her little sister thoughtfully bought for her after their dentist appointment and proceeds to sit down in her comfy armchair.

Ahhhhh. Contentment.

She opens her computer, goes on to the internet, and clicks New Post.

She remembers that she promised to put up the pictures of the cardboard box dollhouse she made, so decides that this post will be on that.

Hallo.

So yes, here are the promised pictures. Just as a disclaimer: Cardboard box dollhouses are really hard to make. Well, they're not really hard, just quite time consuming and as such, I don't make them often.

You start off with an apple box, complete with lid.

Depending on the kind of box it is, you may need to design your house around it. See all the holes and cracks in it? The ones on the sides I made bigger into windows, and since the house is three stories high, I hid the long, tall crack with a "wall".

I forgot to take pictures during the process, so you have the beginning pictures and then by the time I remembered to click a few more, you have the final pictures. Heh.

Get the lid of the apple box....... and cut out the sides so they can be glued into the main box as floors. (I used a steak knife, (so professional right?) but if you have something better, I'd go with that. =)

Then I used Elmer's School Glue to glue them into my house:

It may take a while to dry because you should use a lot of glue to make the floors steady. When it was finished drying, I re-enforced it with good ol' hot glue gun.

Fast forward to finished product.

Okay! The final result looked like this:

Top floor........

IT'S A PIANO, PEOPLE!
Middle floor........... See the wall where the big long crack used to be? Aren't I clever? Mwahahah!

The dresser is made from match boxes like these, so the drawers really open!

That flimsy, filmy, gift wrapping paper is awesome for dollhouse wallpaper. Just sayin'.

And the bottom floor. That fireplace? I LOVE that fireplace. It turned out beautifully. =)

And there you have it! I did make most the furniture in the house, so if you have any questions about how to make something, I'll do a tutorial for it and show you how. Most of it is dead easy, if a little boring. =) Really thick material is awesome for carpets and rugs.

This took me about two weeks to finish, so it's kind of a big undertaking. :) But hey ho, the results are worth it, and my little sisters adored me for ages.

God bless!

Picture Saturday--- Another couple!

It's been ages since I've done a Picture Saturday, hasn't it?

Here it is: Faramir and Eowyn from the Lord of the Rings trilogy

Also... GOOD NEWS!

Our Video Library finally  got The Avengers back in, so we get to watch that tonight.

My life is awesome again.

One day I will own these:

My mom found this for free on the side of the road, and seeing as it was lovely and in excellent condition, brought it home.

Isn't my new armchair bea-U-tiful?

Happiness is a nice armchair. *nod*

Oh, pop on over to Shaylynn's blog... I guest posted there. :)

Now I go to finish listening to Javert and Jean Valjean arguing over whether or not the latter is a thief for life or not.

God bless!

Some complaining and a few odd pictures...

We've been having internet difficulties.

We switched service providers because the newer one is faster and cheaper than the old one. Which is nice.... But at the moment--while we wait for a router which probably won't arrive until next week--our internet is somewhat sketchy.

Sniffle.

So if I've been terrible about commenting, I'm sorry! I will be better when the router arrives. :)

Six Random Facts:

1.) There's something wrong with my mom's computer. The fan must be broken or something, because it sounds just like the T.A.R.D.I.S. when it turns on. No. Joke. She turns it on and I get an almost uncontrollable urge to scream, "Where is he? Where's the Doctor?"

2.) I wish the days would decide what kind of weather they're going to have. It's like 30 degrees in the morning (which is cold when your window has a leak) and then it gets up to like 65 in the afternoon, so it's too cold to wear summer clothes, but then it's too warm to even consider winter clothes.

This displeases me.

4.) I want to get the fourth season of Leverage.

5.) My sister and I are planning to have a friend come over this weekend so that we can let her listen to Les Miserables the whole way through.(I think we usually skip two or three of the nastier songs. Just....... FYI.) The aforementioned friend has only ever heard bits and pieces of it, so we decided that she must hear the whole musical before she watches the movie. (Squeeeee! That movie looks amazing, doesn't it? Hugh Jackman and Russel Crowe together? I'm going to be crying so much. Little Fall of Rain, anyone? Javert's Suicide? *sigh*) It ought to be fun.

6.) I love this song. The end. Don't ask why.

7.) Can anyone else totally relate?

Righty! That's about all I have to say on the matter.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway! It ends on October first, peoples.

Until I have an internet connection next time!

God bless

Tag: If I were a........

I've been thinking.

Does anyone else think "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" is too long of a word to be of any use whatsoever? Who's going to take the time to say "supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" when "splendiferous" will do just as well?

Call me absurd and lazy, but I  certainly wouldn't take the time to say supercalifragilisticexpialidocious in a conversation.

Now, now, Mary. Don't look at me like that. You know it's true.

Ahem. Anyway...
Do you agree....? Or is that just me?

So I saw this over at Cat's blog and thought it was delightful, and therefore decided to do it. Here we go:

If I were a gemstone: I'd be an amethyst, or jade.
If I were a scent: I'd be lilac.
If I were a pair of shoes: I'd be dark brown, knee high dress boots.
If I were the weather: I'd be sunny. And probably pretty windy.
If I were a facial expression: Eh. I'd be.... um.... My expression changes a lot.
If I were a car: I'd be a mini-cooper. (I'd say Land Rover, or Range Rover, but I don't look like those.)
If I were a time of day: I'd be about six in the evening.
If I were a month: I'd be May.
If I were a place: I'd be home.
If I were a liquid: I'd be a cup of coffee.
If I were a taste: I'd be chocolate. (Believe it, people. I am that sweet.)
If I were a sea animal: I'd be...... but I hate sea animals!
If I were a food: I'd be... delicious. *grin*
If I were a color: I'd be dark purple with a hint of grey.
If I were a musical instrument: I'd be a French horn. Or the human voice. Take your pick.
If I were a flower: I'd be an orange lily.
If I were a song: I'd be You Are Loved (Don't Give Up) By Josh Groban.
If I were a planet: I'd be Venus? Or Saturn.
If I were an object: I'd be a purple coloured pencil.
If I were a fruit: I'd be a peach. Or strawberry.
If I were a sound: I'd be music.
If I were a day of the week: I'd be Saturday.

And there you go. You now know me that much better. That was actually quite fun, and it's nice not having to tag other people. If you want to you should do this, it's kind of hard thinking of what you would be in such-and-such a case.

UPDATE!

Since twenty followers came and went, I'm now having a twenty-five follower giveaway! (SQUEEEEEEEE!!!!) I just need to finish getting my stuff together and then things will get awesome around here. Stay tuned, it ought to be fun. :)

Until next time!
God bless,

Treskie

"Fingers on lips!"

I love things that make me laugh. Pictures, songs, movies, people, the Doctor. If you make me laugh, odds are I'll like you.

So when I came across Tim Hawkins...

I didn't fall in love.

But I did become a fan. And this video never fails to crack me up. :)
