Picture Satuday-- Guest Post of Awesomeness

Hellooooo, people of the internet! Treskie is back from Disneyland and oh the stories she can tell....

But until then, here is a guest post that was supposed to be up yesterday, but I was driving home, and then I crashed. Well... I mean not LITERALLY crashed, because that would involve tears and insurance, but crashed as in, "Oh look a pillow, better... ZZZZZZZzzzzzz." so yeah.

Without further ado, the aforementioned guest post, with art that made me go, "Wow this is awesome! Look at that fore-shortening! Epic gif usage! Aasdlfkjsdfdf "Hollow Boy" fanart!!!!!"

So wow, thank you, ladies, for posting for me!

Enjoy.

Hey, this is Hannah and Sarah from Sister Sketches! We are here, guest of our queen, Treskie, whose fabulousness is beyond fathom.

Since I (Hannah) don't trust myself to do any sort of tutorial post, because: 1. our skills have all been sort of self-taught, and therefore, very slapdash, and 2. our teaching abilities are questionable... This will just be a sort of sketch dump. And it will NOT be awkward, because I, Hannah, declare it so.

1) This is a painting I finished way back when, in like, November. It simply hasn't seen the light of day. And now's it's been sitting on my shelf for months because, seriously, what do you do with it?

2) An girl hugging a short elf in a kilt. Because why not.

Excuse the quality of these pictures, they're all taken with obsolete iPhone cameras for lack of scanners.

3) This is an uncolored picture for a book I'm illustrating for someone, which is like the most stressful thing ever because deadlines and AACKK.

4) And while we're on the subject of commissioned drawings, here's the picture I drew for my older sister's wedding invitations. She colored it in on Photoshop (which is her specialty) but I did the sketch, based on some drawings I sent her while she was gone over the summer. Oh, and the sister getting married thing = a whole lot of freaking out.

5) I finally read Lockwood and Co. The Hollow Boy. This is from one singularly adorable scene of Lockwood and Lucy toward the end. Because Locklyle ftw.

And these following pictures are Sarah's. They are more plentiful and more recent, as her sketchbook is her constant companion and is almost as treasured as her eraser.

6) "Bird lady". With tabi boots. Tabi boots are cool.

7) "Queen Lady". We had a discussion with our uncle concerning the difference between high fantasy elf ears (the really long ones), epic fantasy elf ears (the "realistic" ones), and Atlantian ears. These are none of the above. Just pointyish human ears.

8) Raven lady. Not crows, ravens, as in, Odin's ravens. I sketched this when I was researching getting a raven as a pet, but nope, they're illegal. Also, fun fact, ravens sound more melodical than crows. Just in case you needed that information sometime in the future.

 9) His hands drove me NUTS because it's really hard for me to draw guy hands without them looking like noodly appendages ending in smaller noodly appendages.

10) A stabby girl. Like, someone stabbed her, and she looks like she wants to stab someone who stabbed her.

11) I wasn't really sure about posting her because of her unfinished, geometrical type hands, but oh, well. YOLO.

So thanks so much to Treskie for letting us do a guest post! Hopefully this will help us do more on our own blog. Any comments, critiques, smart remarks? Favorite picture?

Hannah and Sarah

*After note by Treskie*

THAT ELSA DRESS THOUGH!
They called me queen! (!!!!!!!)

Picture Saturday {Febuary}

So it's technically Friday.

But it's late and it's practically Saturday, so I'm going to post this tonight because I'm going to be running around screaming tomorrow because reasons.

Speaking of this weekend, it's Valentine's Day on Sunday, and so Amy and I recorded Can't Help Falling In Love as a tribute to.... I dunno. Love? Anyway, here it is. Let me know what you think, yeah?

A friend asked me how it was going at the flower shop this week..... I sent her this picture.

It's actually less frantic than last year, which I'm super grateful for, but it's still the mad rush of guys going, "Valentine's Day is when!?"

This is currently what our walk-in cooler looks like at the shop. (Amy is for size comparison.)

So fun, so fun.

This Picture Saturday is going to be an odd assortment, because this week has made me feel gooey and romantic, and irritated and sad at the same time. (Gooey and romantic because love is in the air, and irritated and sad becaus love is in the freaking air all the time.)

1.) Here, have an Italian lady... sleeping? I don't know, but she's pretty.

2.) Sometimes I think I should draw Kate with her hair down, and then I think "mmmm better not."

3.) Random guy who looks like someone and I can't place it. But I know he looks like someone....

4.) Le me during Valentine's week.

5.) I drew Ignazio from memory on a piece of scrap paper (in pen, no less!) and thought he turned out pretty good. I want to retry with a reference picture.

6.) Le me: I wonder if I can draw Piero..... Oh look it actually looks like him. Better leave it unfinished.

7.) Le me: Contemplates drawing Gianluca.
Le me: Better not attempt. Draw Tristan and Kate doing something romantic. Like shooting stuff together.

8.) People: You're so funny and pretty and smart, why are you still single?

me:

9.) Le me: Oh oh, Tristan should tell Kate that he loves her when they're in the middle of a shoot-out. That's so him!

Yep, that is a coffee stain on the left. I had it on my hand, and I rubbed the paper and it was sad.

10.) Le me: Contemplates drawing Gianluca some more.
Le me: Mmmm. No. Draw Tristan making Kate stop yelling by planting one on her.

11.) Le me: Abort! Abort! Too much love.

Literally me this whole week.

12.) Le me: Contemplates drawing Gianluca.
Le me: Pssshhh you'd have better luck with a terrible self-portrait.
Le me: Apparently I look up and to the left a lot.

13.) Le me: Gianluuuuuuca.

And I need to stop.... Like seriously.

There's this song called Big Deal by Leann Rimes, and it goes,

Don't wanna hear another word about candlelight,
and long-stemmed roses,
or how you're falling head-over-heels in love.
So what?
Big deal!

And I can relate to it. Ha!

Okay lovelies, question time!

Favorite drawing?
What are you doing for Valentine's Day?
 What's your favorite love song?
What did you think of our cover?

I love you all! And happy, early, Valentine's Day!

La Vita

Sometimes all the best laid plans just fall through and it makes me super sad because I was going to do all these fun sorts of pictures and drawings for this Picture Saturday in preparation for Valentine's Day... and it fell through.

I don't know....

I know sometimes artists go through these stages where their brain and their hands don't communicate very well, and even when they want to draw, the hand is basically just like, "Nope!"I know it's just something that artists go through, and if I'm gonna be an artist, I have to learn to deal with it, but it seems to be happening to me an awful lot lately. And there are fewer things more depressing than having a day off and wanting to draw and not being able to.

Like seriously, it's so irritating, because you know you know how to do this! This is easy art! And your hand won't art, and you just sit there crying like, 'PLEASE ART."

So you sit there, drawing and erasing, and drawing, and erasing and by the time you're done your paper is basically a crinkled giant smudge, and you're sitting in the middle of the living room eating nutella with a spoon and listening to Grande Amore. Because if anyone can make you feel better, it's Il Volo.

So yeah, that's why there was no Picture Saturday-- or Sunday, for that matter.

Lots of frustrations.

I might try to pre-schedule a post for this coming weekend, because I just know that if I don't, there won't be one..... Since I work at a flower shop and it's Valentine's Week. Which is fine, it comes with the territory, but overall the week ends up being kind of exhausting.

I'm consoling myself with the fact that MY ENTIRE FAMILY is going to Disneyland on the 16th,* and Sammi's gonna join us, and we're literally going to take Disneyland by storm and it's going to be epic.

*Reason #4455 why my brother is cooler than your brother.

Speaking of which, we're going to be gone over that weekend. Would one of you fabulous people like to guest post for that Picture Saturday? You could do a photodump, or just one picture that you've worked on, or you could talk technique or which medium is your favorite. It's up to you.

Also, the first bit of this year's going to be fun, because we have Disneyland in February, I'm going to visit my sister and her family in March, (!!!!!!!!!!!!) and in April there's Joe's wedding.

Life can can be so chaotic and insane and for people like me, it's hard to deal with it sometimes, because A.) I don't like change and B.) I literally stress out over everything. It's so stupid! I'm aware it's stupid! I know that normal people don't live their lives with a perpetual sick feeling in their stomach, but that's just the way my life is.

*I need to go to work? Sick feeling in my stomach.
*I need to go grocery shopping? BY MYSELF? Sick feeling intensifies.
*I need to find another job? Develops ulcer.

Actually, speaking of ulcers, I have a jury summons for the 29th of this month, so if I could get everyone to pray that I don't have to go, I will love you all forever.

We had some friends come up over night on Saturday and we stayed up late watching Ip Man and Leverage and basically partied like old people. We always forget to take pictures, but we all get along so well, we literally have conversations like:

Us: STATING A THING VERY LOUDLY.
Them: OMG RIGHT? RIGHT?
Us: YOU AGREE WITH EVERYTHING.!
Them: WE KNOW! AAAAAGH.

And then we proceed to yell at each other about fandoms and books and self-defense and it's great fun all 'round.

I don't even know, guys, this post is super rambly.

There's this song that mah guys sing, called La Vita, and when I looked up the English lyrics, it was like a perfect representation of my mood and so I'm going to leave you with this rough translation and call it a night.

Life
Is there anything realer in the world
And we almost never notice it
Almost never, almost never
Sometimes we have a sort of fear of life
because there are many things
That aren't okay in life

What do we expect, what do we expect from life?
No, it's impossible to waste this life

Life
Nothing's as wonderful as life
And maybe many people don't know

Life
Is there anything realer in the world
And we almost never notice it
Almost never, almost never
Life.

And it tripped me up a little, because of reasons.

So there you go. I'm sorry there was no art this week. I shall do my best to make sure there is art Saturday morning next time!

I love you all!

Picture Saturday

I'm honestly afraid to post.

Because since December, every time I've posted, I've lost a few followers. Like... What, am I doing something different? Is my content getting lame? What am I doing to drive y'all away!? Come baaaaaaaaaaaack!

But I'm going to be brave, and post anyway.

Please stay.

I'm also very sorry, but there aren't a lot of drawings this week. Most of my days off were spent trying really hard to get insurance.*

*I'm going to punch everyone in the heath department for making it so hard, and for making me consider going to the Dark Side. I want to air-squeeze someone's throat.

Not a lot to to share. And not a lot of quality. I'm mad, because I was going to draw Luca for Cait, and I was going to do some 24 fanart*, even though season 7 makes me want to scream and throw stuff....and I couldn't because I was too busy.

*Because Jack and Tony are bros.

1.) Sometimes I actually color in stuff I say I'm going to color in. (I'm so awesome that way....)

Aw, Tristan, you're in so much troooouble

2.) Here's more Phantom art because I promised someone I would.

3.) Ultra stiff Raoul, but Christine's body language and facial expression is on point.....

4.) Well helloooo, Tristan. Looks like you have the weight of the world on your shoulders. Go sabotage something.

5.) So remember last time, when I said Tristan goes all Die Hard and goes after the bad guy all by himself... and then gets captured? Well Kate's mad when he gets back.

OTP

6.) Also, by the way, Max is going to have to save Tyler because BROS. (Despite, you know, The Thing.)

7.) On occasion, I do draw stuff besides Tristan and Gang. This happened when I was listening to Il Volo, and I just had release the emotions.

Listen to "We Are Love." Do it now.

I went and watched Star Wars today.

It was so good!! But you know... there was that One Thing..... and now a certain character will remain unforgiven by me, because REASONS.

Le Questions:

Favorite black and white?
Favorite colored?
Have you seen the new Star Wars?
Should I join the Dark Side? (I hear it has cookies)

Love you all!

Picture Saturday -- Late.

I've been really lax with my blog lately. Actually, I've been lazy with pretty much all things internet.

I think I might be a bit burnt out, but I don't know why!

This is why Treskie can't have nice things.

Anyway, before I start this post, my bestest friend started her own blog, and you should go say hi. Go see Sammi!

I feel like I was supposed to say something else, but if I was, I forget what it is.

I think I'm going to do a post on music. ('Cause music.)

I'm sorry if I'm a little out of it right now, I'm easily distracted.... Oooh look, Il Volo!

1.) Right anyway. Here is the finished product of the character sketch I did for Cait, and it took a very long time for me to post it, because I GET DISTRACTED. (Yet another reason why Treskie can't have nice things.)

2.) Here, have the finally colored in versions of the pictures I drew of my cousin and her guy.

3.) And then I was like, "BOYS IN BEANIES!"

 4.) *Heavy breathing.*

5.) I joined Operation Storm Heaven and loved the idea of being a Rosary Warrior so....

6.) So I'm that person who gets so incredibly irritated when girls in action movies leave their hair down-- especially if it's long-- because IT'S NOT REALISTIC to have it flipping and flopping when you're running for your life! But I'll be the first to admit, it's fun to draw flowy hair on spy girls....

7.) I really like kids. I mean who doesn't? (If you don't there's something wrong.)

 8.) 'Nuff said.

9.) CREEPY RANDOM GUY WITH GIANT EYES, YOU'RE WELCOME. (Reason #75 Why Treskie Can't Have Nice Things.)

10.) Amy and I saw this little girl when we were driving to work, and she was walking to school, with this giant backpack, and these giant boots, and she was so adorably skinny that I was like, "Must. Draw. Now."

11.) So Tristan and Tyler don't get along very well. And Tyler is really protective of Kate, ('Cause brothers are like that) and sometimes the he wants to punch Tristan because Tristan can be kind of a jerk.

Does this one need to be colored in?? Yes, yes it does.

"You're a good guy, Tristan, and I like you. But you talk to Kate
like that again, and I'll punch you in the throat."

12.) Also, Tyler informed me that he's the oldest of the group, and was in medical school before whatever-it-is happened. So he's the medic of the group and it's adorable.

Oh yeah, and Kate doesn't have very good pain tolerance. Lucky her. (Mwuaahaha, this is why I can't have nice things.)

13.) With helpful insights from Bella and Jack, I think I managed to figure out a way to let Max do the Thing without making everyone and their brother hate his guts.

14.) And I think Kate can fall asleep anywhere, and she curls up and it's cute. (And let me know if you think the angle works like that, because it's supposed to be like... looking down, and I can't tell if I got it.)

15.) I've got some Doctor Who fanart because Eleven is the most awesome... And that quote just did it for me at the time. *heart eyes*

16.) ALSO!!!!!!! CHRISTINE EYRE COLORED IN MY GENTLEMAN'S GUIDE PICTURE AND IT TRIPS ME OUT, BECAUSE A.) SO COOL THAT SOMEONE COLORED IN MY LINEART! And B.) *SCREAMING*.

 Yeah... that's my story.

Ehem, anyway! I'm going to sign off cause reasons... so.

Question Time!

Favorite overall, bestest, most awesome of this lot?
Nicest in black and white?
Favorite colored?
Do you like that Doctor Who quote?
Boy in beanies, amirite?

Also, this is the most important:

Would you guys rather I posted more often and only have two or three drawings per post, or do you like the massive photodumps just on Saturdays? (Or Sundays, as the case may be?)

Kay, I love you all!
