In my last post, I mentioned that a couple things happened last week that made me go, "Wow. I'm blessed, hawt dang!"
I didn't talk about them really because I didn't have pictures. But now I do! SO! I'mma tell you.
The first good thing that happened... Was actually a week and a half ago. But anyway, I ordered a bracelet and it didn't arrive when it was supposed to, (no big deal, misunderstanding. I was actually fine with it.) But when the package arrived, I opened it up, and besides the bracelet there was also this necklace with my name on it.
MY NAME WAS ON A NECKLACE AND I DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT AND IT SORT OF MADE MY WEEK.
thanks, dear. :)
And then Kit, Amy, and I got lifetime Front Sight memberships for free. Those things cost a fortune usually, and because we know people we got them for free. It was so awesome! FRONT SIGHT.
All the happy!!!!
I'M GONNA SHOOT STUFF. WHOOOOOOOOOO!
Another epic thing was that we finally freaking got WIFI.
FINALLY
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH! I'm not gonna lie, after the guy who figured out why it wasn't working left, I did a little dance of joy in our flat because... we haven't WiFi for a good, um... six months, and that's a long time, folks. So yeah, I can finally blog at my own place and the novelty of this makes me flail a little.
But hands down, the best thing that happened last week was the biggest shock.
Let me set it up for you, kay?
It was almost closing time at the flower shop, and Amy and I were the only ones there, getting ready to start locking doors and doing the cash out. I peered outside and I saw my brother's car pull in to the parking lot, followed like five seconds later by this lovely Land Rover Discovery, (Which.... as most of you know, are kind of my dream cars.)
So anyway, people pile out and Joe came in with Maria, and Kat, and Jess (who's cute). He hands Amy and I this little package, and inside are two sets of keys.
Yeah, you guessed it. My brother, (who is more awesome than your brother) bought us a Landy.
WE HAVE A LANDY. AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND SHINY AND.... OURS.
It was seriously the most unexpected and insane thing that's ever happened to me..... And it took me a little while to wrap my head around it. Just... still kind of speechless. How do you even go about being properly thankful for that?
Meet Jarvis.
Jarvis is beautiful.
Jarvis is fabulous, even when we have to put gas in it.
Jarvis is our precious!! AAAAAAH, I'm still just sort of having a hard time comprehending that he's ours.
So.. ehem. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Joey! Best surprise ever! You are the coolest and most awesome big brother ever, and... and....! Just yes. Love ya. :)
Did anything good happen to you guys lately, or am I alone in my happiness? Let me knoooow.
How are you all?! I've been a horrible blogger.... can I hear an AMEN?
I am sorry.
I have had an attack of the busies, which consequently has resulted in a case of the lazies, and a lack of the energies.
In other words, I've have been a couch potato, who sits there and eats her troubles away.
(LIES. Eating does not make the troubles go away. It temporarily relieves stress, but leaves you feeling sad and fat.)
But anyway. Yeah. I need to figure out how to work blogging into this new adult life that I'm taking a really long time to adjust to.
On an upside, I've got drawings to share on this coming Picture Saturday, my uncle is coming out to visit this weekend, and I've been able to hang out at the car repair shop! (That's really fun for me, because I used to babysit for our mechanic, and he's like my adopted uncle, and he's just fun to be around.)
So now, we can have an update on my life. (HA! What life?!)
1.) Because I now am in possession of money, I have come to the conclusion that I have a slight fetish with Starbucks and other coffee shops. Seriously, they're the bomb.
2.) I also have a harder time not buying stuff... especially when I'm in the art section of Michaels or something. I drool over drawing books, and Prisma Color Pencils. I caress the sketch books, and stroke kneaded eraser packages. CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW AMAZING CRAFT STORES SMELL!? They smell like happiness and creativity.
3.) I watched God's Not Dead recently.
Hee. Yeah, okay.... I kind of loved it a lot.
I mean, sure... I wish they had focused more on the two main characters having their discussions. As it was I felt like they forced too many stories into the same movie and it would have been more epic if we had dealt with The Antagonistic Atheist Professor VS. The Cute Christian Student, and less of the All The People Suddenly Converting.
But I really loved the:
"God is good."
"All the time."
"And all the time?"
"God is Good."
thing that two of the characters kept saying back and forth to each other.
4.) God's Not Dead really put me in the mood to watch Fireproof again.
Men, take heed.
5.) I may or may not have bought myself the first series of Doctor Who. Because I am a geek, and it was like $15 dollars at Walmart.
note my Doctor Who shirt that I was actually wearing when I bought the series. Can we say NERD?
6.) I came this close to buying the first season of Supernatural at said Walmart. But it was slightly out of my price range. I'm hinting for Christmas. Hint. Hint.
7.) It's starting to feel like Autumn here. It makes me very sad. Very sad indeed, that summer is almost over. I love going barefoot and not being freezing. (My winter clothes are really cute though, so I am looking forward to lugging those out of the closet.)
8.) I made this at work.
9.) Guess who gets to wash buckets....
10.) We watched the first season of Crossing Lines.
And oh... It's one of my favorite shows. It's about a team of people who take on crimes that are committed in more than one country, and.... hot diggety dawg, it's good! I'll need to review what I've seen of it soon. (season two is either airing or just aired, and we can't find it anywhere.)
But yeah... Tommy? Tommy is aaawwesome.
And Irish.
Heeeeeeeeeee. He makes me.... very happy.
Seriously, the guy is adorable.
darn my feminine hormones!
Ehem.
Basically I just wanted to pop in and say hallo, and remind you all that I'm not dead. (I'm not dead, in case you were wondering.)
Upon learning he is one of the sons of the now dead king, Prince Lachlan is forced to leave the only home he has ever known. Fleeing for his life, his step-brothers a step behind, Lachlan finds safety and friendship with a young seamstress named Magda, a hermit, an Elf, and two Dwarf brothers. Determined to keep the young prince alive, Magda and the others seek out help in the surrounding Nations.
Everywhere they go, the fugitives are constantly turned away. They are followed by Lachlan's half- brothers who are determined to kill him so that one of them might take their father's crown and become the next king. With every place Lachlan is taken, his brothers close in and when the finally catch up Lachlan is forced to face the question that has been haunting him since he left home.
Lachlan was saved in the hopes he would become a better king then his father and his brothers. But the last thing he wants is to sit on the throne. If he refuses the crown, will there be anyone willing to fight to keep him alive?
I need to get my hands on the first one, so I can read it because... *eyes Jack accusingly* I haven't read it yet.
The Jack of Awesomness
About Jack:
Jack Lewis Baillot has the ability to wear a red shirt because she
is convinced she is Scottish and therefore immune to expendable dying.
It also helps that she has a last name.
Jack claims the title of Author, which makes her feel like a Time
Lord when she capitalizes it. She has a sonic pen which deepens her Time
Lord claims. She enjoys a good Science Fiction story though spends most
of her time writing Fantasy and Steampunk, or a mixture of both.
She believes cliff hangers are terrible and feels the need to apologize over and over when one of her books ends on one.
When
Jack isn't writing, which doesn't happen often, she goes on long hikes
through the ice lands she calls home. She believes she will one day meet
the Abominable Snowman and share a cup of hot chocolate with him.
You can learn more about Jack's other published work and upcoming books at her website, jacklewisbaillot.com
Seriously now, she is quite a delightful author and you are missing out if you haven't read her books.
And now I must go.
We are going to a Renaissance Faire and I'm excited.
Which is why there is extreme cause for celebration.
*Cue celebration*
So, want to know something funny?
Almost everyone in my family is a Whovian. This means that the 50th anniversary is a pretty big deal at our house.
The thing is.... we don't have cable.
So at the time of the airing, we go to BBCAmerica, where we thought we would be able to watch it. The countdown began. And three...two... one....
AND IT WASN'T SHOWING.
Frantic typing away ensued, while everyone in the house with a computer tried to figure out how to watch the special. We couldn't find anywhere.
Horror set in.
We were going to miss the once in a lifetime experience.
No, scratch that. We were missing the once in a lifetime experience.
And then... magic happened.
We remembered that our friends up the street have cable.
One phone-call later, we were all on our way over.
We only missed the first ten minutes.
Isn't that lovely?!?
It was really, really good, you guys. It was super fun! And while I still don't think of John Hurt as the Doctor, I liked how they explained him.
Anyway, to celebrate, I decided to redo the Doctor Who tag from Tasha's blog party last year.
1.) If you decided to name your first born child after any Doctor Who character, male or female, who would it be?
Amy. Because I love Amy and even like her name. (and that way, I'd also be naming her after my sister, so it's a bloody win/win.)
2.) What is your favourite colour of the Doctor's shoes?
Oh, I like the red ones.
3.) Look around yourself and name the one thing that is TARDIS blue in your house!
My TARDIS. Obviously.
4.) The Doctor is going back in time again, which historical era should he visit?
The American Revolution. Meet Washington. Awweeesomme.
5.) Would you REALLY go with the Doctor in the TARDIS?
Eeeeeh. I'm a coward. I don't know.
6.) Who's your favorite Doctor and why?
Before, it was Nine. I love Nine, he's fantastic. But then we got to Eleven.... and he became my favorite really fast. He's super sweet, but he reminds me of Nine in a lot of ways.
I don't think he gets enough love.
7.) Would you be afraid to spend Christmas in London?
Nope. I have total faith in the Doctor.
8.) Do you look at an ordinary screwdriver and think 'this could be a bit more sonic'?
Every. Single. Time! It's absurd!
9.) Angel statues, plastic mannequins, Christmas trees - what ordinary everyday object would you love to make an object of terror to Whovians were you Steven Moffat?
I think cameras. Every day, ordinary cameras that would like... snap you out of this world and into a parallel one that would suck the life out of you slowly. And if you deleted the picture of you, you'd die.
...... That would be freaky.
10.) The TARDIS lands in your garden and the Doctor steps out. What is the first thing you say to him?
Doctorrrrrrrrr!
11.) Who is your favorite actor who has played the Doctor so far and why?
I really like Matt Smith. He's nice.
12.) Have you seen any Classic Doctor Who? If so, which Doctor/episode(s) is your favorite?
I have not. I mean to, eventually, but I'm watching a bunch of others at the moment, and I don't have time.
13.) Which are the creepiest, scariest and all-out meanest baddies in all the Who-niverse?
I feel like I should say the Silence, but I can't remember.... who are they? What are they? ..... Silence?
14.) Who is/are your favorite Companion(s) and why?
Amy and Rory, hands down. I love their relationship with the Doctor, I love their relationship, and I like their character development. (I also love that they're married and not just together, you know?)
15.) Did you cry more watching Doomsday or The Angels Take Manhattan?
I think I cried equally. Doomsday was better, plot wise. But Angels Take Manhattan was awful at the end. SO yeah. Equally.
16.) What is your favorite quote from the show?
For some reason, the one from Vincent and the Doctor has made itself my favorite. I don't know why. It just makes me happy.
17.) Which Doctor (including all previous regenerations) would you most like to be the companion of, and why? Eleven! He's sweet. I like sweet people.
18.) Which of the following are you more scared of, the Daleks, Cybermen, or the Weeping Angles?
The Weeping Angels. I don't like them. I want them all dead.
19.) Who are some of your favorite guest stars in the series?
20.) What was your first experience with Doctor Who and how did you hear about the series?
There was a great deal going on about it in the blogging world. And then I went over to someone's house to babysit, and I watched Father's Day and I was like, "I like me this stuff. This stuff is like Star Trek: the Original Series. I must watch more."
And then some friends loaned us Nine's season.
And it all went downhill from there.
21.) The Ninth Doctor said, 'Fantastic!', Ten said, 'Allons-y', and Eleven says, 'Geronimo'; what would you like to be the signature exclamation of the Twelfth Doctor?
Och, aye.
22.) If you were trapped in an episode, which one would it be?
I'd be stuck in a library with faulty lighting and shadows that eat people.
23.) Which is your favorite episode with each Doctor (Nine, Ten and Eleven)?
Nine: Father's Day, and the Parting of Ways Ten: New Earth, Silence in the Library, and Doomsday
Eleven: Most of his. The Vampires of Venice, Amy's Choice, and a Town Called Mercy are some of my favorites.
24.) After watching a certain Doctor Who episode, did you summon up the courage to try fish sticks and custard?
I haven't yet, but I plan too.
Annnnd, that's it!
It ended up being a really nice day. I wore my Doctor Who shirt:
I blogged:
And did the rough draft for my little sister's TARDIS decorations.
We're going to watch Thor again in theaters tonight.
It should be fun.
Happy Birthday, Doctor Who!
And now I'm going to leave you with this video because it's awesome.
