Music Tag

I was going to do a Picture Saturday, but I haven't had time to draw more than like three things this week, and I feel like I ought to wait until I can give you guys a quality post. (Unless you guys would rather start seeing like... single pictures with more detail? I DON'T KNOW.)

So instead! I'm going to answer a bunch of questions about music, which ought to be fun and interesting. (Because I'm a very interesting person, dang it!)

I promise to have a fun Picture Saturday next week, just you wait! But until then, here we go!

1.) Do you play any instruments?

Well. I don't currently. I used to play French horn in middle school, and I was fairly good, but once I hit high school, that fell to the wayside while I started taking singing classes at the college.

I would really like to learn how to play guitar or piano... or both! So that I could sing and play at the same time, that would be freaking fantastic, am I right?

2.) What is your favorite music genre?

Ehe. I like a lot of different styles of music, depending on my mood. I mean I'll listen to whatever's popular on the radio, and then turn around and listen to full on opera.

But I would have to say that the music that I listen to and it... resonates in my soul... is classical crossover. I like music with full voices, and more skill than your average pop.

3.) Is there a music genre that you absolutely can't stand?

Uugh. I cannot listen to screaming heavy metal. Or rap. Rap is so obnoxious.
But the kind of "music" where the singer is just screaming into the microphone, I get physically pained, like, "YOU ARE DESTROYING YOUR VOCAL CHORDS! YOU FOOL! NODULES, MAN! NODUUULES."

4.) What is your favorite way to listen to music? (CD, Vinyl, mp3, radio, etc..)

Ohh... either on CD or plugged into my phone. I like it when I can turn on the music and it just absorbs into my bloodstream and I can feel it pulsing inside me. Yassss.

5.) Top three favorite bands/singers?

*facepalm* Probably Il Volo, Josh Groban, and Anthony Warlow. They have this type of tone-quality that make my cold, cold heart go pitter-pat.

6.) What are your three favorite chords?

Ehm, seeing as I don't play any instrument that uses chords, I'm gonna just...

7.) What do you think about TV and Movie Soundtracks?

 *Pauses Magnificent Seven soundtrack* What?

8.) Ever made a mixed CD?

Hasn't everyone?

9.) The old days of music were the better ones. Do you agree?

I don't know. I think mostly yes? There was a lot more soul in old music than there is now... I mean...

Because you know I'm all about that bass,
'bout that bass, no treble
I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass,
no treble....
I'm all about that bass, 'bout that bass..
AD NAUSEAM

But I think some music now is better than music then. I don't know. I think there's good and bad in both ages. I'm kind of under the opinion that we need to stop comparing the different times. Like music changes. Get over it.

this is my new favorite gif.

10.) Have a ever covered a song and recorded it? Which one?

Ehem. Here is a handy-dandy link to my youtube channel where I sing covers. Sometimes. Intermittently. Rarely. But I do sing.

11.) The saddest love song is?

Oh. Ehm. I'm gonna be super cheesy and say "When I Look at You" from The Scarlet Pimpernel Musical, cause... IT HOLDS SPECIAL MEANING TO ME OKAY?

Honorable mentions:
*Happy in my Heartache
*Caruso
*Always Hate Me

I can't chose. There are lots. They are sad.

12.) The happiest love song is?

*Crazed Treskie laughter* Right at this particular moment I'm going to say, "When You Say You Love Me." By Josh Groban because yes.

Honorable Mentions:
Be My Forever
Still Fallin'
We Are Love

13.) What makes you like a song?

Typically it starts with the lyrics, then the voice, then the melody.
I can't like music if I don't like the lyrics.
I don't tend to like music if I don't like the singer's voice... like, I'll find a cover or something that is tolerable to my ears. lol.

14.) What song best represents you?

I sat here and thought about this one for like...a whole three minutes. (That's a very long time, as I am easily distracted.)
Gonna have to say... Let Me In, from Rigoletto, is pretty much me.

15.) What do you love about music?

Oh man.

Music is something else. Music is like seeing someone's heart and soul. Very few things are as personal and emotional as music.
Music can make you happy, or sad, or wistful.
A single song can bring back a flood of memories from ages and ages ago.
Music can tell stories.
Music communicates things in ways ordinary words and actions can't.
Music connects people.
Music can be a window to someone's soul the same way eyes are.
Music is so powerful.
Music is like a piece of heaven on earth. It's magical and wonderful and absolutely necessary.

They say people who pray with song pray twice.

That's amazing.

Music is amazing.

Alrighty everyone, that's all I have for tonight.

Question Time
Have you heard any of my song suggestions already?
What do you think about music?
Can you answer three of the tag questions for me?

I love you all!

Picture Saturday || August {1}

You know those coffee shops that everyone is always talking about? Right? The cute, small ones with warm, welcoming atmospheres where you can go get a coffee, and sit with a book or pencil and paper, and they're just... perfect?

We finally have one of those in town.

It's wonderful.

I have never gone to coffee so much before.

Also, I know the owner and her daughter. (Y'all know of Sammi, right?)

It also sells wine and food and delicious freaking paninis like whoa.

Currently it's my favorite foody/drinky place in town. Wow.

Anyway, moving on.

Somehow, I forgot to post last week. I feel like I had a reason, but I can't remember what it was. (It was very important, I think.)

But anyway, I promised my sister I would try to draw a "realistic" one with a big family. She gave me the whole layout, and I'm gonna give it my best shot, but it's a little daunting so I didn't do it this week. (I know, I'm so efficient.)

1.) Instead, I did this. (Which I feel is wrong, since I wasn't hugely wild about Frozen.)

LET IT GOOOOO, LET IT GOOOOO, CAN'T HOLD IT BACK ANYMORE, LET IT GO, LET IT GO!
TURN AWAY AND SLAM THE DOOR! (And now that's stuck in your head, you're welcome.)

2.) And then I listened to Gentleman's Guide again, and started laughing, because there's this part in one of the songs, where Monty's voice cuts above everyone else's and all you hear is "Of course! A CONSCIENCE, I ASSUME!" That gave me this perfect image of Monty waving his saw around like a buffoon, and I've been itching to draw it for ages.

3.) I watched the single most depressing movie ever, with Colin Morgan and that kid from Kingsmen. The trailer made it look so good, but everyone died. I think if I hadn't been led to believe that at least one of the lived, I would have liked it more, but as it was, I was like, "Surely her brother won't die. She just saved him in France." and then he died. And then it ended. And I was like, "Buzz kill." so yeah. However, the leading lady was awfully pretty.

4.) And Colin Morgan's hair was on point.

And so I felt inclined to draw it. Wow, so first of all, EW, HAIR. And second of all, WHOA, TEETH ARE HARD.

Was this a bust? Yes. Yes it was. Am I gonna try again, because Colin-Morgan's-hair-in-that-movie-is-just-perfection? Yes. Yes I am.

I don't even know what happened, but something went terribly wrong. Like, why are his eyes so much darker than the rest of the picture? Ew! (And don't even get me started on the teeth. *Luke Skywalker No*

5.) But then I was like, "Colin Morgan's face is interesting. I'mma rewatch Merlin." (Seriously though, he has cheekbones that could cut glass.)

6.) I showed my nieces The Rescuers because they'd never seen the whole thing, and when Medusa tells Penny she's homely, Sam the Toink was so indignant. "Why did she say that? That's so rude! That's! That's mean!"

7.) I tried do a thing. (I was too lazy to finish coloring it this week so I fiddled with it on picmonkey and I'm not sure what's going on.)

8.) And and now, because Disney, have some Tangled love, because it's better than Frozen. (Not totally happy with Flynn, but Rapunzel's hair is sparkly.)

Mhmm. Alright that's all I have this week. My li'l sisters came up to visit and I haven't had time to draw, but oh well.

Right, talk to me!
Favorite overall?
Black and white?
Favorite colored?
Best Disney fanart?
Do you have a favorite coffee shop?

Love you all!

Once Upon a Time

Let me tell you a secret: Well it's not actually a secret, but it sounds cool to say that.

We went to Disneyland.

And by "we", I mean my whole family, two good friends, Joe's fiance, and her mom. That's no small crowd.

And it was fun.

And since we took a lot of pictures, I'm mostly gonna post those and not add too many comments. (You know, aside from the occasional pithy remark, because let's be honest, y'all like those.)

Le Roadtrip cause we had had to get there....

Day One.

On the way into the park, day one!

We went way too high on the ferris wheel... (Because I'm not so good with... okay, I hate heights....BUT I WAS BRAVE, and I went on it, and I was scared, but it was fun.)

I was regretting the decision the whole time, fyi.

Tower of Terror in the right picture. YASS.

We waited in line for years, because the Cars ride broke down, but we had fun doing it so HA!

Look at this parade. LOOK AT IT.

It freaking rained
And did horrible things to my bangs.
No, but like, my bangs did not cooperate for the rest of the trip.
Sorrows.

And then it got cold, so Chloe and Sam ended up sharing Joe's jacket, and it was adorable. But I couldn't get very good pictures, so I had to play with this one.

Day two.

We all wore matching t-shirts, because that's how DeLallos do. They were kinda fun, because they had the Disney castle emblazoned on the front, and then on the back: the names and birthday's of everyone in the group. (Reason #333 why my brother is cooler than your brother.)

Le pixelated face is Jack....

Sammi flew out to meet us there that morning, and because it's Sammi, things got sillier. lol.

Iiiin the tiki-tiki-tiki-tiki tiki room....

Day three

Chloe and Sammi dressed as Belle and Rapunzel, and I got to do their hair, because... reasons.

There was this art shop....and I about died. IT WAS SO INCREDIBLE IN THERE. Ugh. People were like, "Treskie, we gotta go."
Me: But art.
Them: We have other plans, remember?
Me: But... art.
Them: We have to meet up with the family.
Me: Can we come back?

Not gonna lie, I got a little emotional in that place, it was amazing.

Mahri legit brought an IQ test with her.

He wanted that balloon since day one. He was so excited. lol.

People say Disneyland is magical.

I don't think it's magical so much as reminiscent. It feels like you're back in the 50's when you're there. It's a special place, it's full of craziness and wonderful things, and it's like wandering through a maze of memories of Walt Disney, and I think it's awesome.

Sorry if this post went on too long, but once I got started, I couldn't really eliminate that many pictures.

God bless! And I'll be back to blogging regularly next week!

Also! Big thanks to all of you lovelies who prayed that I didn't need to go to Jury Duty. It worked, and I'm free!

Kay cheers. Gnight.
