*Angry Treskie Noises*

It's been ages!

You guys are so Treskie deprived! (I know, such a loss.)

Here's the thing:

I am in a drawing funk.

And it's the worst kind of drawing funk, because I want to draw. I want to draw all the things. I want to draw more Phantom fanart, because, believe it or not, I'm still in love with that musical. I want to draw fanart for books I've been reading. I want to finish that Supernatural fanart that I promised Cait forever ago. I want to draw Hannah's character. I want to illustrated songs! (Particularly Right Field and And Then He Kissed Me.) I want to draw and draw and draw!

And I can't.

Because for some reason, my brain and my hand aren't speaking to each other. (I think they had a fight or something.) And they aren't communicating. My brain goes, "Do this!" and my hand shrieks "NEVAH!" and it's all very irritating.

.... And by irritating I mean infuriating.

I'm sure anyone who does any form of art can understand this. Writers, artists, poets... whatever. There are just times when, even when you have the best of intentions, the art does not come.

I plan to watch this very soon.

I have tried to do art.

And after a good long while of sadness and wasted paper,* I resort to tears** and netflix.

*expensive wasted paper.
**not really.

In the meantime, since drawing is apparently not going to happen, I've been doing other stuff.*

*new stuff, old stuff, shiny stuff.

Mostly this other stuff is reading.

A.) THE NEW PENDERWICKS BOOK!!! Aaaah! It's so good! Definitely one of my favorites in the series. But I will admit, it has been a long time since I cried that hard over a book. So many tears. (And I'm not joking there, I was a wet mess.)

Ugh, just read the whole series.

THIS IS ANOTHER CAUSE FOR ANGRY TRESKIE NOISES! I want to fanart about the Penderwicks, and helloooo, drawing funk.

B.) I re-read the first Bartimaeus book, because Jonathan Stroud is basically an awesome author. I guffawed again, because Bartimaeus is a dork.

I want to draw fanart for that too. *Angry Treskie noises*

C.) Kat found a new series by the aforementioned Jonathan Stroud. How he wrote it without my knowledge is beyond me, but I am reading book one with voracious vigor, and I'm loving every moment of it. It's about Ghost Hunters and I feel creeped out sometimes, and it's delicious. (No, Cait, it's not a Supernatural rip-off, cool your jets.)

*Angry Treskie noises commence with angst, because the fanart that could be is not coming*

I lost my old kneaded eraser, which meant I had to open the new one that I've had since Christmas. AND THIS IS HOW WEIRD I AM. I COULDN'T USE IT. See, kneaded erasers are supposed to be squished and yanked and... well kneaded. They're like clay. You need to manipulate them, and work them in, so they erase beautifully. But they come in such perfect little squares that I couldn't make myself ruin the beauty of this symmetry. I posted on tumblr about it.

Yep. It took me three days to actually use it, and in the end, I had to get my friend to do the initial kneading of it, because I couldn't make myself. I AM A DORK.

We have started re-watching Monk. Monk is a dork.

I am working on a Defense of Raoul post. I was planning to decorate it with drawings. That won't happen. (See above for reasons.)

We've been listening to a lot of oldies at work, and it's really put me in an oldies mood, and I've listened to this song a ridiculous amount. (And this clip is hilarious.)

It's cute!

Well, he walked up to me
And he asked me if I wanted to dance
He looked kinda nice
And so I said, "I might take a chance"
When he danced, he held me tight
And when he walked me home that night
All the stars were shinin' bright
And then he kissed me

I took this picture today and it made me really happy.

I have to sing two solos for my voice class final on Tuesday!!! If all goes well, and I remember the camera, I might post videos of them later..... But until then, pray that my cold/allergies go away and I can actually sing.

Because I'm not sure if I have a cold or really bad allergies. All I know is that the air is pretty much green with pollen and I have a weird voice thing going on at the moment.

It's finally warm enough to go swimming, which we did. I'm very proud of being a mountain lake girl, I can swim in coooold water and it's not that big of a deal. Well let me tell you. IT WAS A COLD FIRST SWIM, OKAY?? FREEZING. My wrists were so numb my hands wouldn't stand up. Aaah good times.

We rewatched the Princess Bride and quoted the whole movie along with the actors.

We listened to this really awesome sermon.

I broke my favorite sandals.

I'm going now.

Baii.*

*I apologize for any typos in this post. I'm tired and I don't feel like proofing it.

Lifey

It's been a while since I've done one of these.

Well, what can I say? My life is boring.

And I'm okay with that, because whenever my life starts to get less boring, I get very tired and quite stressed, because A.) less boring usually means more people, and dealing with people exhausts me. And B.) Being exhausted and dealing with people stresses me out.

Boring is so much better.

Anyway!

Le Five Randoms Facts:

1.) It's finally getting sunny and warm here, which means our trees are finally getting leaves, and our lilacs have bloomed. WOOOOOO!

2.) My best friend graduated, and I helped her decorate the cap because I'm awesome that way. (And so modest too.)

3.) We went to Barnes&Noble and I bought this book called 500 Drawing Prompts and it makes me very happy. Supernatural, season 3 was also on sale, so I totally bought that too, because basically Sam and Dean are my most favorite.

While we were driving home from Reno, at 75mph, the back right tire on Jarvis exploded. We didn't just get a flat, the tire blew. I mean smoke and everything, it was very exciting! Luckily there was a guy behind us who was either a retired cop, or a highway patrolman, and he helped us change the tire.

After this, I informed our mechanic that he has got to teach me how to do it myself, because I "know" what to do, but I don't know what to do, you know what I mean?

4.) I've been watching Gilmore Girls. Hurhur. I really like it! It's funny, it's sweet, it's the fasted-paced dialogue I've ever heard, and the sarcasm in it is fabulous. It's pretty clean too, so far, and I'm really enjoying it. I have one or too irritations with it, but overall, it's really fun.

5.) The other day, I was driving along with my sister, and as we passed by the lake, this inadvertent, "Wow." came out. I mean, the lake was so beautiful, and so lovely, I couldn't really help myself. And I just thought how lucky I am to live somewhere like this, where I can drive by something I see almost every day, and it still is so insanely pretty that I can't help but be astonished at how gorgeous it is.

5.) The Ren Faire is in town again this weekend, so we, and a few friends, have decided to go and make a day of it. Because we're the kind of people who don't really plan ahead, one of the friends is coming up today to see if we can slap together some sort of costume. I think we might be doing something Doctor Who-ish (because he's a time-traveler, see.) Or Steampunky, or just generally old. It's all very slap-dash and spur of the moment, but I'm excited. :) There's going to be jousting!  And it's going to make me feel like picking up a sword and stabbing someone! *dances*

Aaaand that is all my news at the moment. Like I said, my life is boring.

And I'm in a drawing funk. *Angry Treskie noises*

Alright, I'm out. Bai!

Lately...

It.

Has.

Been.

For.

Freaking.

Ever.

And I beg your pardon for it. I hate that I haven't had a chance to blog. I like blogging. I miss blogging! I want to blog every day! (Actually no, I think that's kind of overkill.) I want to blog every other day! Three times a week!

At the very least, I WANT TO BLOG MORE THAN EVERY TWO WEEKS, OKAY!!?

I worked very hard to get my followers. (all eighty-six of you. I love you guys. :) And I don't want to lose any of you-- and I'd really like more. (because, does it matter that I have fourscore? No, I must have many.)

So, I'm going to work to get more than one post out a week. *Winces, because that's hard to do right now.*

I haven't done a Random Facts post in a while, which is sad, because I like Random Facts posts.

Le Six Random Facts:

1.) I still have not seen Unbroken, and this is a source of extreme sorrow for this little potato. Because it's WWII. And I don't know what it is about World War Two, but it makes me all thrilled inside. You know, people in that time frame were so cool. I've read books written by guys in that time frame, and all of them leave me feeling like "Wow, I need to be a better person."

So yes.

*Movie set during WWII? Must watch.
*Movie set during WWII with a nice guy stuck in an evil POW camp? Bring it.
*Movie set during WWII with a nice guy stuck in an evil POW camp and still managing to be a hero and not dying and shoving through? Why haven't I seen it yet. What is wrong with me? What is life?

I'm probably going to go watch it this weekend, because the trailer made me cry, and I am a sucker for pain and anguish.

2.) Speaking of going to the movies, several of my sisters* and a couple of epic girls** decided to get together and go see Into the Woods.

*Kat, Bella, and Tiny
**THEY'RE AS GEEKY AND WEIRD AS WE ARE. HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE??

That. Movie.

It is so good! It's so dumb! There was a random part near the end that didn't need to be there and left me somewhat disgruntled..... but other than that?

The music was really good, everyone had nice voices! (That never happens.) I quite liked all the characters, I was really impressed with how they meshed all those different fairy tales into one plot that worked, and didn't make me go, "Wow they tried way too hard."

The Baker and his wife were freaking adorable together.
Jack was a good little actor. (He was good as Gavroche in Les Mis too.)
I find it amusing and a little grouchifying that Chris Pine acted more like Kirk in this movie than he ever did in Star Trek. Like, if he had just overacted in Star Trek, I would be way more into the movies.)

And I'm not going to lie, the Agony song had me cackling like a buffoon. It was absurd! It was over the top! They gamboled around atop a waterfall and sang passionately and it was my favorite song of the whole movie.

But it's so applicable to fandoms.

Someone died? Sing the chorus of Agony.
Your OTP broke up? Sing the chorus of Agony.
Mid-season finale? Sing the chorus of Agony.
Dean's being affected by the Mark of Cain? Sing Agony.
Cliffhanger? AAAAGOOONNYYYY!

Seriously. Best. Song. Ever.

So yes, aside from that one part near the end, I would say this movie got an A from me. :)

3.) I think, starting February 1st, I'm going to start drawing every single day. Even if it's just a sketch, even if it's rubbish. I shall draw it. And I shall post it. And it will be amazing.

4.) I finished Flashpoint! And oh my gosh, I need to review it. Because it's so good! The plots are fabulous, I adored all the characters, even the girl. I flipped out over back stories and character development, and cried frequently.

And on top of that, it's like the cleanest newer show I've ever seen. I think in all five seasons, there was maybe one kissing scene. Like. HAI IT IS POSSIBLE TO HAVE ROMANCE WITHOUT TAKING IT TO THE BEDROOM EVERY EPISODE. (Teen Wolf, take notes)

5.) I'm working on a project. It's an exciting project for me. I'm drawing all the My Little Ponies-- but here's the giant twist-- I'm drawing them, as humans. LIKE LA! I've never done anything like that before, and I won't lie, it's fun to figure out how these ponies would look if they weren't ponies.

I'm currently working on Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie is super fun.

No, seriously. I'm drinking out of MLP glasses and stuff to get into the spirity of things. We're gonna have a good time.

Y'all should be excited.

6.) In the spirit of my new resolution to get my act together and blog again, I need to think of more post ideas, because after a while, my life gets boring, so I'm going to stick a poll here and let you guys vote. (Because I value your opinions and I need a bit of a kick in the pants to get me out and about to find WiFi to steal.)

What kind of posts would you like to see?
Art
Book/Movie/TV Show reviews
Random/Lifey Stuff
Fangirling

And that, mein minions, is all I can do with this post right now.

I'm really grouchy with how long it's been since I posted. I don't want to become one of those annoying bloggers who posts like twice a year and expects comments.

SO PLEASE VOTE and all that jazz. (And if there's a different sort of post you want to see from me, LET ME KNOW!)

Cheers and God bless!

So we need a little Christmas, right this very minute...

Candles in the window
,carols on the spinet,
Yes, we need a little Christmas,
right this very minute.
It hasn't snowed a single flurry,
but, Santa, dear, we're in a hurry.....

La, mein peasants!

I promise next week to do a Picture Saturday.

As it is, it's been like two or three weeks and I feel ashamed. (Or maybe you're all just like, "Hurray, she hasn't bragged about her drawings in a while! Wooooooooo!")

Whatever.

You know that song.... "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Eeeeeverywhere you go."

That's a load of bull where I am.

With us, it's more like, "Is hasn't snowed a single flurry, but Santa dear, we're in a hurry."

We were supposed to have a giant snow storm this week. It was all over the news, "IT'S GONNA BE HUGE. PREPARE YOURSELVES. GET YOUR SHOVELS. BUY TIRE CHAINS. YOU DRIVE, YOU DIE. IT'S GONNA BE EPIC. THREE FEET OVERNIGHT. STOCK UP ON FOOD, YOU COULD STARVE.

Wanna know how much snow we ended up getting?

What are we gonna do with all of it?!? Lucky we were prepared, right? Hate to be snowed in.

We could see the storm clouds, we could smell the snow. And the clouds looked down at beautiful Lake Tahoe and went, "Nah, I can hold it til the next rest stop." and passed by this particular turn off.

I'm grouchy about that. I stare at the sky like, "SNOW YOU FREAK."

Suddenly my inspiration for this post petered out.

Let's see. I've been aggressively trying to cram in all my favorite Christmas movies and TV show specials before the Big Day. I'm very emotional over them. Like, "Ohmygosh. He gave her a present." *grabs tissue* "This movie is just... so good."

Okay, so maybe I'm not that bad, but I'm definitely getting all sniffly over lame, cheesy Christmas movies. It's embarrassing, really.

Speaking of lame Christmas movies, Le Sammi Bender spent the night and showed us Santa Claus. (No, I didn't sniffle over it. I'm not that freaking emotional.)

That movie is dumb. But it had these funny bits that made me snortle like an idiot. And I like snortling.

Sammi, Kat, Le me
Of course, it helped that Sammi likes desert a lot, and brought two things of gelato and cheesecakes of fabulousness. You wanna talk sugar high at ten o'clock at night?

I literally started singing that song from Calamity Jane.

I've got two wonderful arms
I've got two wonderful lips,
I'm over twenty-one, and I'm freeeeee.
OH I've got a hive full of honey.
For the right kind of honey. Bee.

And Sammi just sat there looking at me like:

Yeah, that's why we're best friends.

My niece made her First Communion today.

She was so excited, her veil was literally trembling, and it was so cute. And I'm sitting behind her like, "God is so good. I'm so blessed. I NEED TO BE HOLY, OH MY GOSH."

One of my favorite Christmas stories is The Gift of the Magi, but I like the version illustrated by PJ Lynch because it's beautiful. It's the cutest, sweetest Christmas story! You should read it.

......
............

Guys, I literally just took a break writing, because my family was having a folded-up-socks version of a snowball fight.

Imagine the setting: A cozy livingroom, a crackling fire, companionable company. And then BOOM, folded socks flying, smashing people's heads and breathless giggling because the Pater is sleeping we don't want to wake him up. Merherherher. Reasons why my family is better than your family.

*cough*

I wrapped loads of pressies the other day. I'm almost done with the shopping. I only have two more people to buy for, and a couple little side gifts I need to get. Everyone else is done, and it makes me so ridiculously happy. I dunno. There's something super fabulous about wrapping presents and singing along with Christmas music.

It's like:

*cuts wrapping paper* "Angels we haaaave heeeeard on hiiiiigh!" *tapes packages* "Sweetly singing oooo'er the plaaaaiins!" *fabulously sticks on ribbons* "Aaand the mountainsss iiin replyyyyy!" *aggressively writes labels* "Echoing their joyous straaaain! GLOOOOO-OO-OO-OOORIAAA, IN EXCELIS DEEEOOOO." *proceeds to next package*

It's fun. And I like the way my pressies turned out.

On the topic of Christmas music... I'm obsessed with Baby It's Cold Outside. I'd never really cared for it until last year. And this year, I've got it playing on repeat, practically. Even my three year old niece is like, "TRESSIE. NO." And then I spend the whole day, frantically singing both parts.

I really can't staaaaaaa--But baby it's cold outside!
I've got to go 'waaaa--But baby it's cold outside!
This evening has--Been hoping that you'd drop in--
SOO very niiice--I'LL hold your hands, they're just like--
My mother will start to wor--BEAUTIFUL what's your hur--

You get the idea?

We plan to paint the windows sometime next week.

We're having Midnight Mass at our house, because we're a mission parish, and we has no church to use at midnight.

I'm excited.

I getting distracted by my sisters and mom having tickle fights.

Yeah, we're weird.

That's all.

Bai.

Because reasons.

I feel like I ought to have a reason for not posting.

It was a stressful week and I just didn't feel like it.

But hey, I'm here now!

(You may applaud.)

Le Five Random Facts: (because I like lists almost as much as Cait does.)

1.) I got new boots because reasons. (Reasons being: a.) They were like... adorable. b.) I needed black boots this winter. c.) REASONS.)

2.) Kat and I went to Hobby Lobby and Barnes&Noble on Saturday, because reasons. (But like, do you really need reasons to go there? Those stores are the bomb diggety.) I found the art sections in both and about died.

All the fabulousness!
myyyyy precccioooouuussss.

I found this book by Mark Crilley... I'm subscribed to him on youtube. His art is really awesome.

And I bought myself a portfolio book!!! I HAVE A PORTFOLIO.

3.) Amy and I made little bead spiders at the florist yesterday, because reasons. (Halloween, that's why.) Took for freaking ever, and I can't decide if I like them or not.

4.) Speaking of which, the florist got broken into because reasons! They stole a laptop. Cops came. I unabashedly thought the whole thing was really cool.

5.) It is officially time to count down to Christmas! I am like so ridiculously excited! Because reasons! I mean for real! I love Christmas. Christmas is the best. I AM COUNTING DOWN. Who's with me?

.....
And that's all I have. Wait for iiiit: Because REASONS.

Here's a picture of a gerberra daisy for you.

Cheers!

Darling calm down, calm down, you lose yourself in the clouds...

It has been yet another great age since I have blessed you all with my presence.

I'm sure none of you really care, but that's beside the point. Saying things like "blessing you with my presence" makes me feel important.

It's hard to blog without WiFi.
(Which, because of the Pearls Before Swine comic below, I have taken to referring to as wifey instead of wifi.)

Anyway, lately, I've been busy. It was a long week last week, we had a couple of huge weddings to make at the flower shop, so I worked a lot. This week has been much calmer and I've had time to draw and read and watch a fantastic multitude of Grimm.

Five Gloriously Random Facts:

Fact the First: After finishing Scorpio Races, I raided my sister's bookshelf and started on Raven Boys. (Actually, I didn't need to raid the shelf. She willingly let me borrow it.)

I finished it today.
"RAVEN BOYS" IS JUST AS GOOD AS SCORPIO RACES!!

Fanart coming soon. Possibly. Eheh. I need to draw at least one illustration for Jack's book this week.

Don't worry, Hannah. I shall read 100 Cupboards as soon as I'm done with book two of the Raven Boys.

Fact the Second: Going home after moving out makes me homesick.

Fact the Third. I actually watched The Incredible Hulk! And hey, it wasn't like I thought it would be. I was all sad for Bruce Banner, and I really liked it a lot. (One bed scene, I think, but other than that, pretty clean.)

Lou Ferrigno had a cameo, which delighted geeky me no end. I was like, "IT'S THE HULK!" and yeah.... *cough*

The must have Stan Lee cameo....

And the Tony cameo, which also delighted me, because I like his and Bruce's friendship in Avengers.

And frankly, I was sad, because I liked the tiny, crazy English/Russian man... you know, before he monsterfied himself.

And of course, this part. Which made me giggle, because I TOO am a beast when I'm.... hungry.

Fact the Fourth. I really want to learn how do to color when I draw, because black and white is all very well, (and kind of my favorite), but I want to know that if push comes to shove, I can color. I'm actually working on an odd sort of picture which involves a flame and a manly wood nymph, but I'm not posting it yet.

Fact the Fifth: GRIMM.

CAN WE PLEASE TALK ABOUT HOW AWESOME THIS SHOW IS? WHY ISN'T IT MORE POPULAR. We literally watched the entire first season in a week. There are 22 episodes. When I'm all caught up, I'm going to do a review, because... because....

BECAUSE, GRIMM.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I just have a thing for cop shows. They are the best. And cops + twisted fairytales + friendships + witty dialogue + fight scenes? Yessssssss.

HURRAY FOR YET ANOTHER FREAKING TV ADDICTION.

Anyway. That is what comes of having no WiFi. lol. That is my current life up to speed, and I shall attempt to get Picture Saturday up on Saturday for a change.

Cheers!
Treskie
