*Angry Treskie Noises*

It's been ages!

You guys are so Treskie deprived! (I know, such a loss.)

Here's the thing:

I am in a drawing funk.

And it's the worst kind of drawing funk, because I want to draw. I want to draw all the things. I want to draw more Phantom fanart, because, believe it or not, I'm still in love with that musical. I want to draw fanart for books I've been reading. I want to finish that Supernatural fanart that I promised Cait forever ago. I want to draw Hannah's character. I want to illustrated songs! (Particularly Right Field and And Then He Kissed Me.) I want to draw and draw and draw!

And I can't.

Because for some reason, my brain and my hand aren't speaking to each other. (I think they had a fight or something.) And they aren't communicating. My brain goes, "Do this!" and my hand shrieks "NEVAH!" and it's all very irritating.

.... And by irritating I mean infuriating.

I'm sure anyone who does any form of art can understand this. Writers, artists, poets... whatever. There are just times when, even when you have the best of intentions, the art does not come.

I plan to watch this very soon.

I have tried to do art.

And after a good long while of sadness and wasted paper,* I resort to tears** and netflix.

*expensive wasted paper.
**not really.

In the meantime, since drawing is apparently not going to happen, I've been doing other stuff.*

*new stuff, old stuff, shiny stuff.

Mostly this other stuff is reading.

A.) THE NEW PENDERWICKS BOOK!!! Aaaah! It's so good! Definitely one of my favorites in the series. But I will admit, it has been a long time since I cried that hard over a book. So many tears. (And I'm not joking there, I was a wet mess.)

Ugh, just read the whole series.

THIS IS ANOTHER CAUSE FOR ANGRY TRESKIE NOISES! I want to fanart about the Penderwicks, and helloooo, drawing funk.

B.) I re-read the first Bartimaeus book, because Jonathan Stroud is basically an awesome author. I guffawed again, because Bartimaeus is a dork.

I want to draw fanart for that too. *Angry Treskie noises*

C.) Kat found a new series by the aforementioned Jonathan Stroud. How he wrote it without my knowledge is beyond me, but I am reading book one with voracious vigor, and I'm loving every moment of it. It's about Ghost Hunters and I feel creeped out sometimes, and it's delicious. (No, Cait, it's not a Supernatural rip-off, cool your jets.)

*Angry Treskie noises commence with angst, because the fanart that could be is not coming*

I lost my old kneaded eraser, which meant I had to open the new one that I've had since Christmas. AND THIS IS HOW WEIRD I AM. I COULDN'T USE IT. See, kneaded erasers are supposed to be squished and yanked and... well kneaded. They're like clay. You need to manipulate them, and work them in, so they erase beautifully. But they come in such perfect little squares that I couldn't make myself ruin the beauty of this symmetry. I posted on tumblr about it.

Yep. It took me three days to actually use it, and in the end, I had to get my friend to do the initial kneading of it, because I couldn't make myself. I AM A DORK.

We have started re-watching Monk. Monk is a dork.

I am working on a Defense of Raoul post. I was planning to decorate it with drawings. That won't happen. (See above for reasons.)

We've been listening to a lot of oldies at work, and it's really put me in an oldies mood, and I've listened to this song a ridiculous amount. (And this clip is hilarious.)

It's cute!

Well, he walked up to me
And he asked me if I wanted to dance
He looked kinda nice
And so I said, "I might take a chance"
When he danced, he held me tight
And when he walked me home that night
All the stars were shinin' bright
And then he kissed me

I took this picture today and it made me really happy.

I have to sing two solos for my voice class final on Tuesday!!! If all goes well, and I remember the camera, I might post videos of them later..... But until then, pray that my cold/allergies go away and I can actually sing.

Because I'm not sure if I have a cold or really bad allergies. All I know is that the air is pretty much green with pollen and I have a weird voice thing going on at the moment.

It's finally warm enough to go swimming, which we did. I'm very proud of being a mountain lake girl, I can swim in coooold water and it's not that big of a deal. Well let me tell you. IT WAS A COLD FIRST SWIM, OKAY?? FREEZING. My wrists were so numb my hands wouldn't stand up. Aaah good times.

We rewatched the Princess Bride and quoted the whole movie along with the actors.

We listened to this really awesome sermon.

I broke my favorite sandals.

I'm going now.

Baii.*

*I apologize for any typos in this post. I'm tired and I don't feel like proofing it.

  1. you sounded like you had more fun not drawing but I think it's always good to do others things until you can draw again. I think it's very normal. anyway, I kind of wish I can quote the princess bride too, that's one of my favorite films.

    have a lovely day.

    IT IS TOO CUTE THOUGH.

    okay I'm done being weird.

    maybe.

I am still sad at the fanart deprivation. It's like...

    a problem.

So hopefully your brain and hand get back together, otherwise I might have to be really sad.

  5. THERE BE MY PICTURE. :') *quietly flails in excitement* But really now, I KNOW ART FUNKS. I do. I have been in a writing funk for 6 months....which is incredibly awkward. >_> So take your time. SERIOUSLY. Don't force it if it's just going to make you unhappy. IT'LL COME BACK I PROMISE. *nods* Also I clearly need this second Jonathon Stroud series. I'm just going to use his name because it's easier to type than his book titles. GAHHH. I HAVE the Amulet of Smajsdlkrj on my shelf and I'm going to read it ASAP because the graphic novel rocked so much.

  6. Awww my poor Treskie! :( Sounds like you are having a bad day and like you said, artist's block. Have you tried taking a short break from it? When I get writer's block I get that intense feeling of wanting to write but can't get myself to come up with words. So I take a short break like a day or until you feel like you are ready. Or you can also free draw like no rush to draw this for this person or draw this fanart, just a random drawing. I hope you get the spark again real soon. **hugs**

      Thanks! XD

    3. Oh my gosh, LOL!! I had a dream today that you were working at a sandwich shop and I was hired there too. The boss put you to train me, but you were teaching me how to fold socks! HAHHAHAHHAA! ROTFLOL!

  7. I know that feeling. The cursor blinking on the word document....no words coming....but you dreamed epic scenes all day. The pencil tapping the paper....no sketches coming....but your fingers are itching to draw. The tempting piles of yarn...a project in mind....but your hands are just too tired today.

    It's rather irksome.

But I think I may have a suggestion. Now, I'm not saying this is a solution I always use ( because I have excuses to put my art to the side...good excuses...erm...right?) but it has helped me some in the past. Try putting the projects you have in mind on the back burner for a bit. Find a piece of scrap paper and then dump randomness onto it. Eventually your brain and your hands should remember what it is like to work in unison.

    1. I do not like that feeling lol. YAAAASS THOUGH, TO THOSE DESCRIPTIONS. ('cept I haven't knitted in ages, cause I got bored.)

      So irksome.

*dances at suggestion* That's actually a good idea though. I shall probably do that. Because I want to break the funk. XD Fanks.

  8. As a writer, I ABSOLUTELY SYMPATHIZE WITH YOU WHEN YOU SAY THAT YOU ARE IN A DRAWING FUNK. I find myself wallowing (in a freakily miserable manner) in writing funks far more than is decent. :p The struggle is real.

ALSO. A Defense of Raoul post is a fantabulous idea. I am very much excited for it. Because, though the Phantom is awesome, Raoul is a darling sweetheart, and doesn't get the love he deserves. In my humble opinion. :)

This post is fabulous. Just putting that out there.

    1. THANK YOU BECAUSE FUNKS ARE NO FUN. XD (Wallowing is HARD!) lol. Struggle is annoying, is what is is lol.

THANK YOU!!!!!!!! No he doesn't even sort of get the love he deserves, everyone hates him and it makes me mad, because he is SWEET.

Hahaha, fanks, it was fun to write. XD

  9. THAT SONG. I HAVE NEVER HEARD IT BEFORE BUT THOSE LYRICS MEAN SOMETHING TO ME.

    There's a boy.

He's one of my brother's and my friends from our homeschool group. We went to a swing dance a couple weeks ago. And I danced with that boy more than anyone else.

That song sums up all 6 (or 7) dances we danced together.

He didn't kiss me. Darn it.

    Dat song though.

I hope you get out of your funk soon! I want to see more of your lovely drawings!!! :)

P.S. That picture is adorable. :)

    1. IT'S SUCH THE CUTEST, ISN'T IT? OMG.

      Awwwwww a boy.

Hahaha, that's awesome! I'm glad I could find you a song you can relate to. XD Do I get his naaaaaaaame???? lol. I unfortunately do not know the first thing about dancing, because A.) I know NO GUYS and B.) I'm too shy to take a class where I will probably be paired up with a guy I don't know... SO YEAH I can't dance and it makes me sad.

ME TOO I would like to draw lots.

PS isn't it though? I was like, "Omg, Toink, you're adorable."

    2. No, you do not get his name. But you can guess it! :) (It starts with an r)

This dance that I went to, the girls outnumbered the guys so there were a lot more girls dancing with each other. I only danced with, like, 2 other guys besides this one and my brother. Yeeeeeah...whoops. :/

    4. Oooookay, since none of those names are even CLOSE, it's only four letters. Keep guessing!!! :)

    6. If you guess it I will tell you.
You're getting farther away from it now. It starts with an r, it's only four letters and to narrow it down even moooooooore, the second letter is a y.

      You're welcome,
