GOOD MORNING TWO THOUSAND FOURTEEEEEEEEN!

Hiiiiiiiiiiii my fellow muggles!

you have no idea how happy I was
to find that particular gif.

So, I decided it's time for an update on mah bloggy. I feel like all those commercials:

NEW LOOK! SAME GREAT BLOG! *fanfare music*

What do you think? Do you like it more? Less? Would you change anything? I like it. I think it's still me, but less teenager-y. I'm going to be adding a couple of pages over the next few days or so, so keep your eyes peeled for more awesome. Hehee!

Anyway. I liked doing Ally's tag last year, so I decided to redo it.  Tralalala-la-la-la-laaaa.....

Ehem.

1.) What did you do in 2013 that you’d never done before?
I drove for the first time. It was interesting. I don't actually like driving. But I do it because I so ridiculously brave.

2.) Did you keep your New Years’ resolutions, and will you make one this year?

I don't really make New Years' resolutions. I don't like commitment, so I'll make goals, but it's never something that I feel like I have to do.

3.) Did anyone close to you give birth?
Eh. No, but both my sisters are expecting!!!!

4.) Did anyone close to you die?
Yes. My friend's dad passed away. He was really one of the coolest guys, so it hit me really hard.

5.) What countries/states did you visit?
Nevada, but that doesn't count, because we're like ten minutes away from the state line. lol.

6.) What would you like to have in 2014 that you lacked in 2013?
A job. We needs it, Precious! We are so brokes!

7.) What date from 2013 will remain etched upon your memory?
August 31st. That's the day the family reunion started!

8.) Did you move anywhere?
     Phhhht.

9.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?
I illustrated Jack's book! You guys have no idea how excessively happy I am over that.

10.) What was your biggest failure?
I still have no job. Or a license. But this year I'mma make it happen.

11.) Did you suffer illness or injury?
       I caught a cold once....

12.) What was the best thing you bought?
Ooh. Oh. Um. I bought W.A.R.P. and United We Spy, which were both really awesome books.

13.) Whose behavior merited celebration?
       Um.

14.) Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
I guess that's the good thing about being too shy to know people. I can't think of anyone who made me appalled and depressed.

15.) Where did most of your money go?
Christmas pressies. I literally saved every penny and then spent it all on Christmas. It's the best way to use up all your money, really. Don't you agree? DON'T YOU?

16.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Christmas! And Thor: The Dark World, actually. And more, probably, but I forget right now.

17.) What was the best concert you’ve been to this year?
       JOSH FREAKING GROBAN'S.

It's cool, because this was our concert.

18.) What song/album will always remind you of 2013?
Josh Groban's Changing Colors. (One of my favorites!) Hunter Hayes's Encore CD, and several Imagine Dragons songs, namely Demons and Monster (which sound like dreadful songs, but are actually really quite nice.)

19.) Compared to this time last year, are you:
Happier? Yeah. Sadder too. Just older, I guess.

20.) What do you wish you’d done more of?
Reading. Ha! You thought it was going to be something epic, didn't you!? TOOK YOU ABACK, DIDN'T I?

21.) What do you wish you’d done less of?
       Stressing out.

22.)What was your greatest musical discovery?
Musical like musical, a show? or musical like song, or singer? Musical-like-a-show, I didn't discover anything new that I liked. But music wise, I found that I really like OneRepublic. (Counting Stars, anyone?) And Hunter Hayes. I like Hunter Hayes.

23.) How did you spend Christmas?
       Like a boss.
It was lovely, like it always is. I am under the firm opinion that our Christmases are the best. *grin*

24.) How are you spending New Year’s?
New Year's Eve or New Year's Day? Not sure what we're doing tomorrow, but tonight, we are going to stay up late and watch Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

25.) Who did you spend the most time on the phone with?
       Sammi! And Amy, prolly.

26.) What was the best book you read?
Ooooh. Um. Gosh. OH! The Queen of Attolia. (Actually that whole series is awesome.) Eugenides is such a cool character.

26.) Did you fall in love in 2013?
       I did not. I am a potato.

27.) What was your favorite TV show?
*Treskie cracks her knuckles* Oh yeah! A list! Oh yeah! Okay, so: Psych, Doctor Who, Leverage, and Supernatural.

28.) Do you hate anyone now that you didn’t hate this time last year?
I don't hate anyone. "I am a friend to ALL OF nature!" (brownies to those who understood the reference.)

29.) What did you want and get?
Lots of stuff, actually! I got the friendship bracelets from Sammi, and a freaking Dean Winchester necklace, (so now my Dean outfit is complete.) an impala keychain, and a drawing mannequin, which was a very thoughtful pressie from my Daddy.... You guys want to see pictures?

30.) What did you want and not get?
A cellphone, but I got the closest thing to it, so that's okay.

31.) What were your favorite films of this year?
       *more knuckle cracking*
Thor: The Dark World
Rise of the Guardians
Tintin
Christmas Angel in the House
The Hobbit DOS

And defo more, but I can't remember them. *flinch*

32.) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I got books and went to the library, and ate cake, and watched Real Steel, and turned 18.

33.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2013?
Um. Experimental. I started wearing shorter skirts than I normally did. Lots of thrifted outfits.

34.) What kept you sane?
       Doctor Who, Supernatural, and Psych.

35.) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
This pretty fellow. Not gonna lie. He's very decent and I like that.

http://static.tumblr.com/f8ptwog/IAkm8awbd/supernatural-supernatural-31420758-500-280.gif

36.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Being brave enough to get a job.

37.) What political issue stirred you the most?
Politics are stupid. I avoid them like the plague.

38.) Who did you miss?
       Lots of people. For real.

39.) Who was the best new person you met?
A friend of a friend who is very sweet and I'd like to get to know her better.

40.) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2013.
Uh. Don't plan on things too much. When they fall through it can be very terrifying.

41.) Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.

"Take pictures in your mind, every childhood room.
Memorize what it sounded like when your dad gets home.
Remember the footsteps, remember the words said.
And all your little brother's favorite songs.
I just realized: everything I have is someday gonna be gone.
I don't wanna grow up.
Wish I'd never grown up.
Taylor Swift: Never Grow Up

42.) Five personally significant events of 2013:
I drove for the first time
I illustrated a book! THIS WAS HUGE.
I went in for a job interview. (They didn't call me back, in case you couldn't tell. It was like, "Hi! Thanks for coming! Good bye! Call you never!"
I started teaching my niece first grade.
        Um.

43.) Five things I want to do in 2014:
       Get a job.
       Get my license
       Draw more
Record a song (or an album)
Meet someone special. It doesn't have to be a guy, just someone I can go, "Oh, so-and-so is a wonderful person. I aspire to be like so-and-so."

44.) Five people I’d like to know better in 2014:
       My bloggy friends!!!!

And that is all. And it is late, and my mom is giving me the stink-eye, so I should definitely sign off.

I wish you all a very happy New Year!

How are you going to spend yours?

  1. Congrats to both your expecting sisters :) . New nieces/nephews are practically the best thing ever. Good luck getting a job. (I will be driving for the first time next year, and I'm pretty sure I'm going to be a road hazard on a booster seat. Actually, we have a tiny car, so I'll be able to belay the booster seat to see over the steering wheel.)

    1. Thanks, I'll tell them!
And they *are*, aren't they? Especially when they're as cute as mine always are. lol.

I shall need all the luck I can get, getting a job.

Haha! I actually don't like Tiny Cars. I got used to the van, and I tried to drive my brother's little honda and freaked out.
But no, I think you'll be fine. :D

    1. Really? YES!!! I'm glad you like it. I'm still a little self-conscious about it.
You did? Oh, I'm going to have to look. I haven't been on blogger much, in case you couldn't tell. lol.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

And yeah, totally do the tag, it's fun. Just link back to Ally. (and me?? XD)

      cheers!

  3. Hi Treskie,

One of my New Year's goals (NOT resolutions... I'm with you on that one, too much commitment and pressure and stress ;), is to comment more on the blogs that I love. Soooo, here I am. :D I can't remember if I've introduced myself or not (that's bad. I think maybe I did, once? Arrgh.), but to summarize, I'm a homeschool grad, book-lover and Doctor Who/Merlin/Sherlock/Psych fangirl. And, because of you (and your highly convincing posts and gifs), a budding Supernatural fanatic as well. *claps hands gleefully * Thank you!!! I'm kind of a sissy when it comes to scary stuff, so I wouldn't normally have even tried to watch, but yeah, now I adore those Winchester boys to death. :D I've never seen a sibling relationship on TV that I love so much! Two of my brothers are watching it with me ('cuz everything is better when you share it with a sibling or two, right?) and we just finished season one. We'll see how much more we can fit into our Christmas break. :D So, thank you again, and happy New Year!

    1. Hey Tayler!!

I... don't think you introduced yourself before, but that's okay, 'cause you have now, so HI! HI HI!

      Yep. Commitment stinks. lol

Ooooooh, you like Psych and DW and Sherlock too?? LALALALALALA!! (I must watch Merlin.)

Oh you started Supernatural, huh? XD I'm glad you like it. But hey, I need to warn you, because I would have liked a warning. Season four introduced angels and God.

It is by far, the worst portrayal of God and Angels that I have ever seen. EVER.

I mean... the angels are rebelling against God, and God's given up on the world and is in "hiding"... and yeah. From season four on, there's a HUGE amount of theological issues that I hate.
      Like... Hate.
A friend of mine was a couple seasons ahead of me and told me it got better, but if I hadn't known, I probably would have stopped at season 4, because it's so bad, God wise.

I wouldn't have normally tried to watch SPN either! I hate scary stuff like that! (after season one, it's not nearly as terrifying, just really sad.)

I've never seen a sibling relationship like that either! They are the best brothers in the world, and they keep getting cooler. *dies* I totally love them loads. Oh hey, do you have a preference, like, Dean over Sam, or are you more like, "whatever, I can't decide"

It's nice that your brothers are watching it with you. My sisters and I watch it together. It's one of those shows that you NEED to watch with someone. lol.

But yes. Um... Season four on has religious problems. If you'd like, I can email you the episodes to watch and the episodes to skip, because... I really hated season 4 and 5. (the others aren't AS bad, but it's always there now.) Seriously, I'd feel a lot better if you let me email you a list. I don't want people to go, "OH, Treskie likes it! It must be good!" and then be scandalized.

If you don't want your email out for the public, you can email me yours at peskytreskie@gmail.com. Just head it something relating to Supernatural, and I'll know who it's from. Please?? :D

Anyway, there. I have warned you.

THANK YOU for commenting. Comments are always lovely. :) It makes my day.

      God bless!

    2. Awww, thank you for the welcome, Treskie! I love it when bloggers respond to comments – it makes it feel so much more personal and conversational, you know? :D

Yes. You MUST watch Merlin! Sometime, ok?

Thanks for the warning. I did my research, so I'm aware of those theological issues, but if you're sure you don't mind, I'd really appreciate the list. I would never blame someone for recommending a show that has problems (because it's my responsibility to find that stuff out), but it's really sweet of you to be cautious. Scandalization is never fun. ;) My email is savedbygrace7(at)q(dot)com.

Ahhhh! You ask me to decide between brothers?! Well, I truly love them both to bits (and I'm sure that will only get stronger *sighs*), but if I HAD to pick, I'd go with Dean. He's so protective of Sammy, is seriously skilled at saving people (and hunting things ;), and I feel terrible for the way that he had to grow up with so much pressure on him (I just want to make it better!). *Ahem* And to lower myself to a completely superficial reason, Jensen Ackles is lovely (so is Jared, but...). :D

    3. I make an attempt to reply to all the comments, because I can't *stand* it when I take the time to comment on someone's blog and they don't have the courtesy to acknowledge it. So yes.

I want to! I just need to find the TIME! lol

Okay cool. I'll get the list together an email you tomorrow, because I'd feel better about it. lol. I'm glad you already knew though. If you go into it thinking it's going to be bad, you'll probably like it more.

Hehe! When I started, I was totally a Dean girl.... and then Sam started getting cooler, and cooler, and cooler, and now I love them equally. (I just have a bit of a crush on Dean) Seriously... ungh. Dean and Sam's relationship gets better and better. Season 7 is like... Brother feels overload. lol.
I think Dean's dad did the best he could, but he was too hard on the boys.
LOL! It's okay to be a little superficial. I saw a picture of him on pinterest, which was what got me like, "Oooooh. he's attractive. What's he in??" lol. They're both lovely. I just prefer Jensen. :D

  4. Haha, I'm not much of one for resolutions either...though I do have a general goal for this year, and that is to get better at stepping outside my comfort zone, trying new things, and being Brave (theme song for this year is thusly Josh Groban's Brave. Soooo jealous that you got to see him in concert!!).
Best of luck finding a job!! :)
Ooh, and you should definitely share pics of your prezzies. The Dean necklace sounds amazing!
Also, I just started watching Leverage based on your recommendation, and I love it! It's my new addiction, haha. :)

    Happy 2014!!

    1. I don't think many people actually make "resolutions". I think everyone goes, "I should be better this year." and then laugh into their hands.

Stepping outside your comfort zone is a big thing. I don't LIKE doing that, so good for you. Being all Brave like that. Lalala!
As for Josh, my sister paid for me. She is very awesome. :D

Thank you! I really do need it. lol.

Maybe I shall share some then. (my sister got the Dean necklace for me, and she's a fan too. So when I opened it, I said, in my best young Dean voice, "Oh. Thank you Tiny.... I.... I love it." Because how many times does an opportunity like that come around???)

OOH OH OH! Really? I LOVE Leverage!! What episode are you on? What do you think of Eliot? (don't you think he would make an AWESOME hunter?)

      Happy 2014 to you too!

  7. Wow, I just have to comment (I've been around for a little while, but now is the time to make myself known) BECAUSE....

    EUGENIDES.

I seriously have met only very few people who have read the Queen's Thief series. You rock! Those books are simply amazing.

Although, I have to say, my favorite is The King of Attolia, because it keeps you guessing and... Costis. Costis is amazing.

Anyway, three cheers for you! And hi! I'm Hannah! ;-) I love your blog!

    1. EUGENIDESSSSSSSSSS!!! I know! Me too! Those books are so underrated. They're brilliant, aren't they??

I really liked the King of Attolia, but I am in love with Eugenides, and he wasn't in it enough, so I liked the Queen of Attolia more. (But that PART... chapter two? The horrific part? [shhh. no spoilers] But that PART! I read it like five times to make sure it was real. lol.

Three cheers back at you! Hi, Hannah! I'm glad you love my blog!!

    2. AGH I KNOW! The part.... not saying anything. But the part. I actually read it twice because I couldn't believe my eyes and a third time because I was so crazied out. I so did not see that coming. -_-

And true. Honestly, the first time I read King of Attolia (and yes, I've read it more than once) I started out by HATING Costis. I was like, "WHERE IS EUGENIDES? WHERE IS HE?" But I warmed up to Costis as soon as he went running...y'know...at that one part. (I am feeling empowered by my lack of spoilers here ;-D)

Now I just want to know when Megan Whalen Turner will get on the ball about the next book. *twiddles thumbs anxiously*

    3. Is this the comment you thought got eaten?? It didn't, so I didn't publish the other one. :D

She did such a good job describing that part. It wasn't gory or anything, it was just very, very, very painful.

Yes! Exactly!! Maybe I'll like Costis better the second time, because I read it and whenever Eugenides came in, he stole the scene, but Costis was good... just not Eugenides. (But yeah, I decided I liked him in the running scene too. LOL)

I really hope she writes the next one soon. There were only like three chapters of Eugenides in the last one. XD

      Delete
    4. Huzzah! It didn't get eaten! :-)

Well, you can't expect anyone to be Eugenides, you know. ;-)

  8. Oh, Treskie. I'm 18 (I'll be 19 in a few days) and still haven't gotten my license! So don't feel bad :P That is something I aim to do this year as well, and it's something that I have to have all my attention focused on in order for me to complete the wretched task.

    I DEEPLY detest driving.
But I'm getting better at it, so I guess that's something! I'm just not thrilled with the idea of driving with a complete stranger (who happens to have a clipboard) and is paying EXTRA attention to your driving.

    Nope. No pressure at all.

    1. You're only 18 (almost 19)?? I thought you were like... 24. lol. It actually makes me feel a lot better knowing that I'm not the only one who didn't have my license by the time I was 17.

THANK you for not liking driving either.
.......Yeah. I'm freaking terrified of the test. (I actually met the guy who'll be giving it to me, when I took my permit test, and he's really nice, but he's still a guy, and a stranger, and I drive worse when there are guys and strangers in my car. lol) ESPECIALLY when they have a clipboard and sit there with the words "judging you" practically flashing over their heads. lol.

Nope. Nooooo pressure, no pressure, no pressure.

  9. Clair~~

Aaawwwwwwwwww..... That comment made my day! *hugs*

Oh oh! What do you think of Psych? I think it's great, and I like how Shawn grows up, but it's not like he does a complete character change. :D
I love Leverage too.... You haven't finished it? Let me know what you think of the last episode when you get there, because it took me a day or two to decide whether I liked it or not. (I decided on 'like' in case you were wondering. lol)
As for Supernatural... I actually need to do a post on it... Because I don't recommend it anymore. *I* still love it, but I've never seen God or the angels so inaccurately and terribly portrayed. It's bad. If I had known how bad it gets, I wouldn't have started it, I don't think. The only reason I'm still going is because I love Dean and Sam. (Cas is just dreadful.) But oooooh. Jared and Jensen ARE lovely, aren't they??? (Don't be making fun of Jensen's pretty eyes. I love his eyes. LOL.) But yeah. If I were you, I'd save myself from this epically sad fandom. (If you MUST start it, please let me email you the episodes to watch and skip. XD)

It fills me with joy to know I'm not the only one over 16 who doesn't have her license. *wipes forehead*

Thanks. I'm doing much better now, actually, but the family is still having their problems. Which stands to reason. But thank you anyway.

Oh, I'd love to email you!! But you might have to start it, because I have a really hard time just... emailing people. So you'll prolly need to start. peskytreskie@gmail.com..... But I don't have Skype, so that could be a problem. lol.

Oh thankee kindly! I'm going to need all the luck I can get. (Yes, I know I'm only eighteen, but most people have jobs by my age and I'm already tired of people asking me why I don't yet. lol)

Oh, I'm not that brave. LOL. I came out of the interview and had a panic attack and cried in the car. Not just sniffles, but actually sobs of terror, so seriously. Not that brave. lol.

You have an excellent 2014 too! And thanks for the comment!!
